Background: Several studies have shown anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, antifungal, and antioxidant effects from Citrus limon-peel essential oil (Cl-PEO). Cl-PEO can be developed as topical drugs for oral ulceration because of its potential active components. There have been no studies on the topical application of Cl-PEO inducing type IV hypersensitivity reaction. Purpose: To investigate the potential of Cl-PEO from Batu City to induce type IV hypersensitivity reactions based on clinical changes, lymphocytes, macrophages, IFNγ, andIL10 expression. Methods: This study was adapted from a guinea pig maximization-test method in Indonesia and the guidance of ISO 10,993-10:2010, and conducted on 20 guinea pigs (Cavia cobaya) divided into a control group and a treatment group. The treatment group was given Cl-PEO and the control group CMC-Na. Clinical changes were observed, then tissue specimens taken for hematoxylin-eosin and immunohistochemistry staining. Results: There were no clinical changes after exposure. Lymphocyte and macrophage numbers and IFNγ and IL10 expression increased in the treatment group compared to the control group (p=0). Conclusion: Cl-PEO can induce type IV hypersensitivity reactions in guinea pigs based on cellular and molecular cytokines, but there are no clinical changes after topical application.
Background: An epidemiological study on elderly conducted by the PKL group number 6 in Jagir Health Public HealthCenter showed that periodontitis was linked hypertension, low muscle strength, and low physical activity, and carieswere linked to low muscle strength and low physical activity. Purpose: To create an informational health video aboutdental and oral health and physical performance in the elderly because there was none. Methods: The program wasconducted on Monday, 22 July 2019, at the Jagir Public Health Center using individual interviews. Results: Of the 20respondents, 5% of them disagreed, 5% quite agreed, 20% agreed, 70% strongly agreed that SEIMUT PERSIA helpedthem learn about dental and oral health and physical performance in the elderly. Out of the 20 respondents, 5% of themquite agreed, 15% agreed, and 80% strongly agreed that the SEIMUT PERSIA video was interesting to watch. Out of the20 respondents, 5% of them quite agreed, 20% agreed, and 75% strongly agreed that the SEIMUT PERSIA video was easyto digest. Conclusion: The respondents were interested in the information about dental and oral health and the physicalperformance of the elderly, and the video was easy to understand.
Introduction: Citrus limon peels essential oil has the potential to be developed as a topical medicine due to its active components. The essential oil has been demonstrated in numerous studies to have anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, antifungal, and antioxidant properties. A study is required to determine whether Citrus limon peel essential oil can cause a type IV hypersensitivity reaction by examining the expression of the cytokines TNF-, IL-1, and IL-6 as well as the clinical manifestations on an animal skin. In this study, the effect of topically applying the essential oil of Citrus limon peel on the expression of TNF-α, IL-1, and IL-6 as well as on type IV hypersensitivity reaction symptoms was examined. Methods: This study is based on the guinea-pig maximisation test method in NADFC RI Regulation Number 7 of 2014, with two groups (control group and treatment group) for each set of ten samples. Citrus limon peels essential oil was administered to the treatment group, whereas CMC-Na was given to the control group. Animal models were euthanized after which the tissues were prepared as specimens for immunohistochemical staining. The expression of cytokines was computed and examined using a light microscope. Results: There were no clinical signs of type IV hypersensitivity in either group, and the expression of TNF-α, IL-1 and IL-6 in the treatment group was found higher than in the control group. Conclusion: After topical administration of Citrus limon peels essential oil, there was an increase in the expression of TNF-α, IL-1 and IL-6 without any clinical symptoms of type IV hypersensitivity.
Background: Late adulthood is an aging process characterized by a decrease in some bodily functions. Physical changesassociated with late adulthood are musculoskeletal disorders, changes in the cardiovascular system, changes in the immunesystem, and changes in physical activity. Physical exercise is one of the ways to improve elderly’ physical activities. Anepidemiological study on elderly under Jagir Public Health Center coverage area reported that periodontitis and dentalcaries could lower physical performance in the elderly, lowering physical activity. Purpose: In consideration of theproblem in question, a promotive and preventive program is needed. The Dental Health Physical Exercise (SKG) programwas expected to improve the overall physical condition of the elderly. Methods: The “Senam Kesehatan Gigi dan Mulut”took place on 19 July 2019 at Integrated Health Service Post for Elderly. Results: There were 26 elderly participated inphysical exercise. 7.7% of them were not able to follow the exercise, and the remaining 92.3% were able to follow theexercise. Conclusion: 92.3% of 26 elderly were able to follow the exercise properly and correctly. However, the remaining7.7% of them were not able to catch up with the physical exercise. In addition, most participants were able to perform 4out of 5 movements criteria.
