Almost all students use smartphone for their daily activities. Nowadays, the student’s literacy on information technology is very good, but sometimes it has not been considered in school learning. One of the essential competencies of undergraduate school is academic writing skill. There is a gap between the student competencies and the learning strategy in certain learning subjects. The aim of this research is to examine the effectiveness of blended mobile learning activity using Facebook to improve student writing skill. This research used timed essay examination to measure the writing skill after one semester learning activity using this strategy and student satisfaction responses to learning. There were four aspects used as criteria of writing skill: ideas, organization, wording, and flavor. The results showed that this learning approach had shown good results in some aspects, particularly in improving the skill of shaping ideas and organizing the ideas into written form. The uses of various learning strategies that make students more active and centered on students tend to increase the ability of students to search for new ideas creatively. Among others, the positive aspect is the students have the knowledge and understanding of new concepts that can support the idea of writing in the aspect of idea and various choices of words.
Abstract-This study was aimed at analyzing contractive comparisons between Indonesian language and Javanese one. Both languages are belong to the Western Malay Polynesian group, but then have developed under varieties of influences and have experienced differences in some respects. The contrasts between both languages could provide contributions for students whose Javanese and Indonesian learner as their L1 and L2 respectively. For gaining the data of contradictions between Indonesian and Javanese, a survey using contrastive language comparison method was done. The instrument was using network system which contains 500 vocabularies. The data were in the form of descriptive qualitative. The results indicated some contrasts between Indonesia and the Javanese languages. The result of this study is feasible to be used as Indonesian teaching materials based on Javanese language.
Prinsip yang berhubungan dengan tatanan yang bersifat sosial, estetika, moral dalam bertindak tutur akan tercermin dalam kesantunan berbahasa. Tata cara berkomunikasi dipengaruhi norma budaya kelompok masyarakat tertentu. Dalam era globalisasi sekarang ini, Indonesia dihadapkan pada kekuatan budaya raksasa yang menjungkirbalikkan norma budaya Indonesia. Hal inilah yang perlu dikembalikan agar diperoleh kearifan yang memadai dalam berkomunikasi. Penerapan prinsip kesantunan, penggunaan honorifik, dan penggunaan eufemisme secara wajar akan membentuk karakter bangsa yang bermartabat.
The poor family scholarship program is a scholarship program by Lamongan District Education Office. This scholarship is given to underprivileged students for study costs at university. The many indicators of scholarship determination result in difficulties education office in making objective decisions. The purpose is to determine the classification of scholarship recipients using the decision tree C4.5 algorithm. This algorithm has the advantage of speed informing and reading models, high accuracy, flexibility, and processing discrete and continuous data. The contribution of this research is to classify poor family scholarship participants with the C 4.5 algorithm without pruning, pre pruning, and post pruning methods. This study uses 460 data and for each attribute, it is calculated using the gain ratio formula to produce trees and decision rules. Based on the scenario that has been done the accuracy value generated after pruning is better than without pruning. The classification process using scenario post pruning technique is used as a reference for the classification of new registrants because it has the highest accuracy of 85.55%.
