This study aimed to investigate the use of supplements among amateur boxers, including the types and brands of supplements and the ways and reasons for taking them. The sample is divided into three categories: elite, youth, and junior. The research method is a survey using a Google form which is distributed to all amateur boxers. The results showed that 200 amateur boxers used supplements, including 125 elite amateur boxers, 55 youth amateur boxers, and 20 junior amateur boxers. A total of 130 boxers received supplements from coaches, officials, administrators, and Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI). A total of 111 amateur boxers used only one type of supplement. The most widely used types of supplements are multivitamins and minerals. A total of 102 amateur boxers used supplements within 4-5 months before the competition. Amateur boxers can feel good effects after using supplements. However, counseling about sports nutrition by doctors and nutritionists needs to be done so that amateur boxers can choose the right supplements and be more careful in using these supplements. These findings can be a reference for coaches and athletes to determine the right supplements to regulate nutrition better.
Study purpose. To investigate type of supplement and amount of supplement used as well as the perceived effect and needs of boxers. Materials and methods. This research is a survey conducted from December 2022 to January 2023. The instrument used a questionnaire (google form).Boxers have 2 criteria, namely: 1) are still active as athletes and 2) have been champions at the provincial level with a total of 155 boxers, 116 male boxers and 39 female boxers. Results. 74 boxers used more than 1 type of supplement (48%), 81 boxers used only 1 type of supplement (52%). Type of supplement, Creatine 23 boxers (8.1%). Whey Protein 14 boxers (4.9%), Fat Burner 93 boxers (32.9%). BCAA 26 boxers (9.2%). Amino 12 boxers (4.2%). Multivitamins and minerals 114 boxers (40.7%). The effect felt, 22 boxers felt effect is "very low" (14.21%), 40 boxers felt effect is “low” (25.80%), 53 boxers felt effect is "enough" (34.19%), 14 boxers felt effect is “high” (9.03%), 26 boxers felt effect is “very high” (16.77%). The need to use supplements, namely 7 boxers need supplements is "very low" (4.54%), 13 boxers need supplements is “low” (8.38%). 52 boxers need supplements is “enough” (33.54%). 44 boxers need supplements is "high" (28.38%). 39 boxers need supplements is "very high" (25.16%). Conclusion. Multivitamins and minerals and fat burners are popular supplements used by boxers because of their convenience and more beneficial benefits. However, boxers are still less concerned about how to use supplements. It is evident from the results that show that many boxers feel in the categories of "enough", "low" and "very low" in the use of supplements but boxers think that the use of supplements is really needed. Further research is expected, to determine the amount and type of supplement recommended specifically for boxing athletes.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of 8 weeks of training with resistance bands on the leg power of taekwondo athletes. This type of research is an experiment. The sample used was taekwondo athletes totalling 27 athletes with an age range of 14-17 years. The leg power test instrument uses a vertical jump. Data analysis techniques include descriptive analysis, prerequisite tests (normality and homogeneity tests), and hypothesis testing using paired sample tests. Analysis using the help of SPSS 23 software. The results showed that eight weeks of training with resistance bands was significant for increasing the leg power of taekwondo athletes. The increase in leg power of taekwondo athletes after being given eight weeks of training with resistance bands was 3.31%. For further research, it is hoped to further expand the scope of the study by examining other factors that influence increasing leg muscle power, as well as developing the research sample
The purpose of this study was to analyze and measure the competence of student-level basketball coaches. The sample in this study were 70 student level basketball athletes. There are four indicators of coach competence, namely Motivation Competency, Game-strategy competency, Character-building competency, Technique competency. Data collection was carried out in 5 Yogyakarta schools simultaneously for one day. This research instrument uses a questionnaire and is distributed via the Google form. This questionnaire uses a Likert scale of 1 – 4. Before the questionnaire is distributed to athletes to answer, the Aiken's validity test is first carried out with a value of 0.898 and the Cronbach Alpha reliability test is 0.791. Based on the competency results of Yogyakarta student basketball coaches "very poor" 6 answers (8.57%), "less" 17 answers (24.29%), "enough" 21 answers (30%), "Good" 23 answers (32.86%), "very good” 3 answers (4.28%). However, the weakness of Yogyakarta student basketball coaches is the Character-building competency and Technique competency indicators. This is evidenced by the total answers are very less and less, more than the total answers are very good and good. So that there is a need for special training support, coach training, or basketball coach education through sports colleges, the competency test stages are carried out gradually and periodically so that the competence of student basketball coaches can continue to increase and develop.
Boxing is a martial art that imposes strict rules on body weight. There are many methods that boxers lose weight. So that it becomes a challenge for novice boxers who have never competed in boxing. The purpose of this study was to specifically investigate amateur boxing athletes at the beginner on how to lose weight. This research method is descriptive qualitative with interviews and questionnaires containing several questions via google form. The subjects in the study were 70 boxers and consisted of 2 categories, the first category was active boxers who competed at POPWIL (Regional Student Sports Week) as many as, 28 boxers and Pre PORPROV (Provincial Sports Week) as In theboxethe boxersecond category, boxers have never participated in an amateur boxing competition. Based on the results of the study, the most widely used weight loss method for beginner boxers is to limit carbon which are and Is carried out during the initial period of exercise. The majority of boxers use more than 1 method of weight loss. The effects felt by boxers are dehydration and lack of enthusiasm. Boxers feel these effects after a few days when starting to lose weight. In carrying out the method of weight loss, many boxers are doubtful about the danger to the body. So the need for special counseling is healthy and gradugraduallyual manner. In addition, coaches, doctors or nutritionists, colleagues, colleagues parents need to be involved to monitor and motivate boxers. It is hoped that this research will become the basis for future research to discuss ail a ball healthy methods and strategies for boxers to lose weight.
