-In Semarang City, groundwater has been exploited as a natural resource since 1841. The groundwater exploited in deep wells is concentrated in confined aquifers. The previous hydrogeological model was developed in one unit of aquifer and refined then by using several hydrostratigraphical units following a regional hydrogeological map without any further analysis. At present, there is a lack of precise hydrogeological model which integrates geological and hydrogeological data, in particular for multiple aquifers in Semarang. Thus, the aim of this paper is to develop a hydrogeological model for the multiple aquifers in Semarang using an integrated data approach. Groundwater samples in the confined aquifers have been analyzed to define the water type and its lateral distribution. Two hydrogeological cross sections were then created based on several borelog data to define a hydrostratigraphical unit (HSU). The HSU result indicates the hydrogeological model of Semarang consists of two aquifers, three aquitards, and one aquiclude. Aquifer 1 is unconfined, while Aquifer 2 is confined. Aquifer 2 is classified into three groups (2a, 2b, and 2c) based on analyses of major ion content and hydrostratigraphical cross sections.

The high demand of clean water supply and groundwater usages in Yogyakarta City, Indonesia has caused the lowering of groundwater table of about 3 m in average since 1984. This condition is caused by the increase number of groundwater pumping in this city relate to the rising of the urban population, economics condition, education and cultural activities, change of land use and increase number of hotels on this famous tourism city in Indonesia. Therefore, it became necessary to assess the optimum yield from the groundwater system beneath this city which can still preserve the recent level of shallow groundwater. This is important because most of the people in this city depends their daily water supply from shallow dug well. In order to assess the safe yield, a groundwater modeling is conducted. The data used on this modeling was taken from previous research and also primary data collected during this research such as; aquifer geometry, aquifer characteristics, shallow groundwater level, water usage/pumping wells discharge, river discharge and surface water level, and climate data. Prediction of the impact of groundwater pumping was made by increasing the water usage/pumping wells discharge on several scenarios. The result of this modeling shows that the optimum yield of the aquifer beneath Yogyakarta City area is about 125,000 m3/day. Salatiga Groundwater Basin (SGB) is located in Java Island, Indonesia. Administratively, it covers Semarang Regency, Salatiga City, and Boyolali Regency. Industry and community use groundwater to fulfil their daily need. Increasing number of deep wells that extract groundwater will cause some environmental problems, such as lowering groundwater level and subsidence at SGB. Thus, there is a need to assess the adverse impacts of groundwater abstraction. Risk assessment of groundwater vulnerability due to abstraction is the goal of this study. The research method was taking account of weighting of geological parameters, such as response characteristics of the aquifers, characteristics of aquifer storage, aquifer thickness, piezometric depth, and distance from the shoreline to conduct the groundwater vulnerability mapping. It was then overlaid on a map of regional spatial plan to develop the map of vulnerability risk due to abstraction. The groundwater vulnerability due to abstraction is categorized in the medium level. After being overlaid by the land use map, the risk of groundwater vulnerability due to abstraction is classified into three kinds, which are low, medium, and high. Regions with a low class can be neglected. Areas with moderate risk require an exhaustive review of technical requirements of the use of borewell. Areas with high-risk need a comprehensive consideration to use artesian wells by monitoring wells with drill licenses, tightening the permit to add new production wells, and conducting periodic review of groundwater monitoring.

An approach to assess groundwater to contamination is developing groundwater vulnerability map. Groundwater vulnerability is formulated as an intrinsic relative, the dimensionless property of a groundwater system that depends on its sensitivity to unfavourable human and natural impacts. Thus, to assess groundwater vulnerability to contamination in Semarang urban area is the objective of this research by using Aquifer Vulnerability Index (AVI). This method considered of two parameters related to the unsaturated zone, i.e. thickness (d) of each sedimentary layer in the unsaturated zone and Estimated hydraulic conductivity (K) of these sedimentary layers. There are five levels of groundwater vulnerability by using AVI method, i.e. extremely low, low, moderate/medium, high, and extremely high. The thinner the layer covers the aquifer, and the higher the value of the hydraulic conductivity of sediment layers will be increasingly vulnerable to pollution.

Cekungan Airtanah (CAT) Karanganyar-Boyolali merupakan CAT yang terletak di Jawa Tengah yang terdiri dari Kota Surakarta, Kabupaten Semarang, Kabupaten Boyolali, Kabupaten Klaten, Kabupaten Karanganyar, Kabupaten Sragen, dan Kabupaten Wonogiri dengan luasan CAT sebesar 3.877km2. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan menganalisis kerentanan airtanah terhadap pencemaran secara spasial. Penilaian kerentanan airtanah terhadap kontaminan dapat diketahui dengan menggunakan metode DRASTIC. Metode DRASTIC merupakan metode pembobotan dari hasil berbagai macam parameter diantaranya yaitu : Kedalaman muka airtanah (D), Recharge (R), Media akuifer (A), Media tanah (S), Topography (T), Zona vadoze (I), dan Konduktivitas hidrolika (C). Dari hasil tumpeng tindih pembobotan setiap parameter, nantinya akan dijumlahkan untuk mendapatkan nilai rentang DRASTIC Indeks. Berdasarkan hasil analisis didapatkan rentang nilai DRASTIC Indeks (DI) dari 106-184 yang dibagi dalam empat tingakt kerentanan. Tingkat kerentanan sangat rendah memiliki nilai DI 106-120 dimana pada kerentanan sangat rendah memiliki sifat tidak memungkinkan terjadinya kontaminasi pencemaran. Daerah tingkat kerentanan rendah memiliki nilai DI 121-140 dimana pada tingkat kerentanan ini memiliki sifat dapat tercemar dengan intensitas kecil dikarenakan pembuangan sebagian kecil polutan yang dilakukan secara berkala.  Daerah tingkat kerentanan sedang memiliki nilai DI 141-150 dimana memiliki sifat dapat tercemar oleh sebagian polutan yang dibuang secara terus-menerus. Daerah tingkat kerentanan tinggi memiliki nilai DI 151-184 dimana pada tingkat pencemaran ini memiliki sifat dapat tercemar oleh semua polutan, kecuali memerlukan daya serap yang tinggi dan mudah berubah, dengan berbagai macam skenario.

Kota Pekalongan berada di Pulau Jawa bagian Utara. Jumlah penduduk kota pekalongan setiap tahunnya mengalami peningkatan. Tahun 2008 jumlah penduduk Kota Pekalongan sebanyak 271.990 jiwa kemudian menjadi 290.347 di Tahun 2012.. Untuk memenuhi kebutuhan air, peduduk Kota Pekalongan menggunakan sumur gali yang menyadap air dari akuifer bebas atau akuifer dangkal. Air tanah bebas sangat rentan terhadap pencemaran akibat pengaruh letaknya yang dangkal dan aktivitas manusia. Oleh sebab itu diperlukan suatu kajian mengenai kerentanan air tanah terhadap kontaminan. Analisis dilakukan denganmenggunakan metode DRASTIC. Metode ini merupakan metode pombobotan berdasarkan beberapa parameter, yaitu: kedalaman muka air tanah (D), jumlah area recharge (R), litologi akuifer (A), jenis media tanah (S), topografi (T), jenis media zona tak jenuh air (I), dan konduktivitas hidrolika (C). Berdasarkan hasil analisis DRASTIC, terdapat tiga tingkat kerentanan yaitu: daerah tingkat kerentanan sedang dengan nilai DRASTIC Indeks (DI) 101-140, daerah tingkat kerentanan tinggi dengan nilai DI 141-180, dan daerah tingkat kerentanan sangat tinggi dengan nilai DI >180.[An Assessment of Groundwater Vulnerability of Contaminant Using DRASTIC Method in Pekalongan City] Pekalongan city which located on the north of Java Island is growing fast, in particular in the population growth. In 2008, total population in Pekalongan city was 271.990 inhabitants increased then up to 290.347 inhabitants in 2012. To fill the water necessary, people in Pekalongan city are using dug wells which are abstracted groundwater from the unconfined aquifer or shallow aquifer. Shallow groundwater can be vulnerabe which are influenced by surface and human activities. Thus, it requires an assessment of the groundwater vulnerability and risk of contaminant. It was analyzed by DRASTIC method. The DRASTIC method is applied by using weighted of some parameters, i.e.: groundwater Depth (D), amount of Recharge (R), Aquifer type (A), Soil type (S), topography (T), Impact of unsatuated zone (I), and hydraulic Conductivity (C). DRASTIC Index (DI) results in three vulnerability levels which are medium with DI 101-140, high with DI around 141-180 and above 180 for high vulnerable of contaminant.
