The bronze bug Thaumastocoris peregrinus Carpintero & Dellapé (Hemiptera: Thaumastocoridae) was detected infesting Eucalyptus trees in Brazil in 2008, in the states of Sao Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul and Minas Gerais and in 2009 was found in the state of Espírito Santo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rio de Janeiro and Paraná. Details about geographical spread, means of introduction, impact in Eucalyptus plantations and natural enemies observed in the field are discussed.

The scarcity of information on the agroclimatic and ecophysiological requirements of forest species, especially in the initial phase, limits the production of quality seedlings, the planning and optimization of nurseries. The potential evapotranspiration, crop coefficients (kc) and water sensitivity coefficients (ky) of Amazonian yellow ipe seedlings were determined under different shading conditions and levels of water replacement to the substrate, in the dry period (July to October 2016), in the Cerrado-Amazon Rainforest transition region of the Mato Grosso state, Brazil. The experiment evaluated the full sun and black polyester nets with 35, 50, 65 and 80% shading, and the levels of water replacement to the substrate of 25, 50, 75 and 100% ETc in a split-plot scheme, with irrigation fractions established according to the maximum water retention capacity of the substrate. The water consumption of Amazonian yellow ipe was 239.2, 228.6, 204.1, 185.7 and 136.3 mm for cultivation under full sun and shading levels of 35, 50, 65 and 80%, respectively. The daily means of ETc were 3.37, 3.22, 2.87, 2.61 and 1.92 mm d-1, whereas the kc means were 1.13, 1.15, 1.05, 0.90 and 0.60 for the above-mentioned shading levels. ky values ranged from 0.89 to 1.28, with reduction due to the increase of water replacement and increase for higher shading percentage.

The stink bugs genus Atopozelus (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) is native in the Americas, with five described species of which only three have been recorded in Brazil. In August 2007, Eucalyptus camaldulensis leaves infested by lerp psyllid were collected and taken to the Forest Pest Biological Control Laboratory situated at São Paulo State University. A small green stink bug, identified as Atopozelus opsimus Elkins (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) that fed on nymphs and adult psyllids, was found on the leaves. These stink bugs presented phytophagy, omnivory and ability in opening the lerp (shell) that protect the psyllid. A. opsimus has demonstrated unusual particularities, different from many biological control agents found in nature; this predator thus deserves more attention for its potential to be evaluated.

Tribolium castaneum is an insect that occurs worldwide and it is a pest that attacks stored products, in particular, grains and seeds. The adult and immature forms are categorized as secondary pests which feed on grains or seeds previously damage in storage conditions. The objective of this study was to describe the type of damage caused by adults and immature of T. castaneum in Brazil nuts and identify the type of damage caused by Coleoptera. It was also verified whether the shell can protect the almond from the attack of this pest. The lesions inflicted by this insect starts as a scratched surface, which evolves into galleries and even injuries capable of modifying the original shape of the almond. Due to its capacity to promote considerable damage with consequent losses in the value of the nuts, T. castaneum may be listed among pests of Brazil nut categorized as primary pest by its ability to initiate injuries in the intact almond.

Costalimaita ferruginea (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) attacks Eucalyptus plants causing severe damage through netting of the leaves. Recently, this Coleoptera has been reported attacking Myrtaceae in Mato Grosso State and, studies about the occurrence of this beetle in commercial plantations of eucalypts has been the subject of researchers through monitoring programmes in the forest protection area. With the beginning of the rainy season, adults were observed causing damage in eucalypt plantations in four cities that are part of the transition region of Amazon and Cerrado Biomes. The spots where these insects were observed are located in Feliz Natal, Lucas do Rio Verde, Sorriso and Vera. The purpose of this study was to report the new occurrences and to characterize the attack period of the beetle C. ferruginea in Eucalyptus plantations in Middle-North region of Mato Grosso State, region of Biomes Transition. Registra-se a primeira ocorrência de Leptocybe invasa Fisher & La Salle (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) no estado de Goiás em Eucalyptus grandis Hill ex Maiden. A detecção ocorreu no município de Goiânia.

No estado de Mato Grosso, a silvicultura intensiva está na fase inicial cobrindo menos de 0,2% do território. O agronegócio impulsionou investimentos para o estabelecimento de populações com espécies florestais, especialmente o cultivo de Eucalyptus sp. Glycaspis brimblecombei (psilídeo-de-concha-do-eucalipto) tornou-se uma importante praga para o cultivo de eucalipto no Brasil. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi relatar a ocorrência de G. brimblecombei no estado de Mato Grosso, em região de transição dos Biomas Amazônia e Cerrado. Em junho de 2014, observou-se adultos, massas de ovos e ninfas de G. brimblecombei, nas áreas de cultivo atacando Eucalyptus sp. nas cidades de Sinop, Sorriso, Lucas do Rio Verde e Feliz Natal. O período que caracteriza a estação seca na região é entre maio a outubro e devido às altas temperaturas e baixas taxas de precipitação, o que favorece a ocorrência desta praga. Este é o primeiro registro de G. brimblecombei no norte de Mato Grosso.
