mentally retarded preschoolers to activities; Unit II was aimed at revealing knowledge of oneself, family, sexual roles, emotions, social phenomena, sanitary-hygienic skills and abilities to perform social roles; Unit III was aimed at identifying the qualities of the personality that are necessary for life in society: verbal communication, autonomy, activity, ability to interact with others and formation of social behaviors.Conclusions. It is concluded that social competence of children of the senior preschool age with intellectual disabilities in general is reduced. The worst knowledge about: family, roles, emotions, social phenomena and the ability to perform social roles. The analysis of the results of the study has made it possible to identify objects of further corrective influence from the part of defectologists and educators.The prospect of research is seen in the development of a system of role-playing games that will be aimed at formation, correction and development of components of social competence of preschool children with mental retardation.
