A população mundial vem envelhecendo de forma abrupta, o que representa um grande desafio para os órgãos competentes que, por sua vez, necessitam de novas políticas públicas de saúde, inclusive na prevenção de quedas. Este estudo objetivou avaliar o risco de quedas em idosos. Trata-se de um estudo epidemiológico de corte transversal com abordagem quantitativa, realizado em uma unidade de saú-de da família. A amostra foi composta por 150 idosos avaliados de janeiro a abril de 2009. Para a coleta de dados, utilizou-se o Fall Risk Score, que foi analisado através do SPSS 17.0. Dos idosos avaliados 58,8% não sofreram quedas, sendo que, dos idosos que caíram (63 idosos), 71,4% sofreram de 1 a 2 quedas, citando como principal causa intrínseca a tontura/vertigem, enquanto que a extrínseca foi pisos escorregadios ou molhados. Conclui-se, portanto, que é de grande relevância avaliar o risco de quedas em idosos, para que se medidas preventivas sejam tomadas, com o objetivo de maximizar a qualidade de vida.
Objective: to understand the social representations of imprisoned women on Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome. Methods: qualitative study conducted with 32 women imprisoned in a rehabilitation center. The Free Association of Words Test was used, with inductive stimuli such as "Human Immunodeficiency Virus" and "Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome". Data were processed by the EVOC software and analyzed in light of the Theory of Social Representations. Results: the elements of the central nucleus of the representation were prevention, fear, death, disease and anguish; the periphery revealed negative aspects regarding the contents. Conclusion: there has been a process of modification in the social representations on the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome with the incorporation of new elements such as the prevention and the reduction of the feeling of imminent death. Métodos: estudo qualitativo, realizado com 32 mulheres sentenciadas em um centro de reabilitação. Utilizou-se o Teste de Associação de Livre de Palavras, tendo como estímulos indutores "Vírus da Imunodeficiência Humana" e "Síndrome da Imunodeficiência Adquirida". Dados processados pelo software EVOC e analisados à luz da Teoria das Representações Sociais. Resultados: os elementos do núcleo central da representação foram prevenção, medo, morte, doença e angústia; a periferia revelou facetas negativas quanto aos conteúdos. Conclusão: observou-se início de um processo de modificação nas representações sociais sobre a Síndrome da Imunodeficiência Adquirida, tendo-se a incorporação de novos elementos, como a prevenção e a diminuição do sentimento de morte iminente.
Introduction: the theory of social representations possible to know with more particularity how individuals see the reality facing the object/phenomenon from their experiences that are loaded with beliefs and values and guide their conduct.
Introduction: Sexuality in later life needs to be discussed because of the significant increase of the HIV/AIDS virus in this population segment. Objective: Recognizing what has been published about the social representations, vulnerability and religious beliefs of older people about HIV/AIDS. Method: An integrative review study of literature inserted into the virtual portals: LILACS, MEDLINE, SciELO and BDENF. There were used as descriptors: "vulnerability", "HIV", "elder", "religion". The data collection instrument included: article title, objective, level of evidence, year, country, publishing journal, methodological approach of the study, data collection technique and the main results. There were met 242 published titles, and 17 articles were about the purpose and were distributed among national and international journals. Results: The social representations about HIV/AIDS were linked to cultural issues, educational, behavioral, religious. The reasons for vulnerability to the virus were multifactorial. Religious beliefs influenced the construction of social representations and perception of forms of vulnerability to HIV/AIDS. Conclusion: It needs to change some existing concepts among seniors about social representations, vulnerability and beliefs of HIV/ AIDS.
