The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and evaluation of the adjudicated incest cases in the heavy penal court in a province of western Turkey. The court files of 65 incest cases during a 10-year period between 1999 and 2008 were explored. When compared to those who lived in cities, the cases who lived in rural areas, such as villages or towns, had been exposed to penetration more frequently (94.3% and 70.0%, respectively, p<0.01). For the cases where the victim and perpetrator lived in the same house, the accused were generally members of the nuclear family (p<0.001). When compared to those who had not been exposed to penetration, most of those who had been exposed to it were determined to apply later (after 10 days) to judicial institutions (77.8%, p<0.01). The education and awareness of persons, such as teachers and physicians, who may confront incestuous relationships rather frequently are very important in the protection of children and in their adaptation to society.

This study was undertaken to investigate the incidence and characteristics of the foramen thyroideum (FT) in Turkish population. A total of 50 cadaver specimens were dissected which were a randomly selected sample of population from the criminal laboratory of the Republic of Turkey's Ministry of Justice (Istanbul). Larynges were dissected with a surgical SMZ 10 Nikon stereomicroscope. Six of the 50 specimens dissected had distinctly identifiable foramina with neurovascular component. One specimen had bilateral foramina, five specimens had unilateral foramina, and two had it in the left side, three in the right. One specimen had a double foramen in the left side. All of them were male and contained neurovascular components. Our data showed 12% incidence of FT in Turkish population.

Bulgular:Çalışma süresince Eskişehir'de bulunan 3 Sulh Ceza Mahkemesinde görülen toplam 3762 davadan 161'i (% 4,3) cinsel taciz başlıklı 105. madde ile ilişkili olduğu, tümü kadın olan mağ-durların yaş ortalamalarının 24,4± 8,1 olduğu, olguların % 50,9'unda (n=82) sanığın tanıdık olduğu, sanığı tanıdık olan olgulardan 32'sinde (% 39,0) sanığın mağdurun iş yeri arkadaşı veya patronu, 19'unda (% 23,2) öğ-retmeni veya eğitimcisi olduğu, davaların 124'ünün (% 77) beraat ile sonuçlandığı, 37'sinde (% 23) ise sanığın 1 yıla kadar hapis cezası ile cezalandırıldığı belirlenmiştir. Sonuç:Cinsel taciz iddiası ile başvu-ran olgularda mağdurlarının ruhsal değerlendirmesi, gerek suçun ortaya konması, gerekse de mağdurun rehabilitasyonu açısından son derece önemli-dir. Suçluların cezalandırılması için bildirim özendirilmelidir. Bildirim yapılmasını önleyen faktörlerle mücadele edilmesi gerekmektedir. Bu amaçla yargı sürecinde yaşanan aksaklıkların düzeltilmesi gerekmektedir.

AMAÇBu çalışmada, Eskişehir Osmangazi Üniversitesi Eğitim, Uygulama ve Araştırma Hastanesi'ne köpek ve kedi ısırık-ları nedeniyle başvuran kişilerin demografik, tıbbi ve adli değerlendirilmesi amaçlandı. GEREÇ VE YÖNTEMSon beş yıllık dönemde bu hastanede, otomasyon sisteminde yer alan kayıtlar incelenerek ICD-10 kodlarına göre 167 olgu değerlendirmeye alındı. Verilerin değerlendirilmesin-de SPSS 13.0 programı kullanıldı, İstatistikî değerlendir-melerde frekans ve ki-kare analizleri yapıldı. BULGULARHastalardan 116'sı köpek, 46'sı kedi ısırığı nedeniyle hastanemize başvurmuştu. Mağdurların çoğu çocuktu. Isırık-ların %51,9'u üst, %29,1'i alt ekstremitede idi. Köpek ve kedi ısırıkları mevsimsel değişim gösterse de çocukların tatilde olduğu yaz ayları önemli bulundu. Yaralanmalarda en çok hiperemi-sıyrık ve laserasyon tanılanmıştı. Hastanede kalış süresi 1-22 gün arası olup ortalama 7,3±5,8 gün olarak hesaplandı. SONUÇKöpek ve kedi ısırıkları ülkemiz için bilinen olaylardır. Hayvanları ve onların ihtiyaçlarını öğrenmek ve saygı duymak, ailelerin beklenmeyen yaralanmalardan sakınmasının önceliğini oluşturmalıdır. Cattle-caused injuries and deaths are much more than predicted. The aim of this research is to determine the prevalence of cattle-caused fatalities and the factors affecting it in a province of western Turkey. The court files on cattle-caused fatalities during a 15-year period between 1996 and 2010 were explored. The proportion of forensic-qualified deaths from the total of 3753 was 0.9% (35/3753). Most of the cases were between the ages of 18 and 65 (60%). Most deaths occurred in the spring and summer months compared with autumn and winter months (9 and 22 vs. 3 and 1, respectively). The mortality rate was much higher in men compared with women (94.3% and 5.7%, respectively). The majority of deaths were caused by injuries on the chest (71.4%). The reason for most deaths was due to hemopneumothorax and lung injury (71.4%). Predicting the behavior of cattle may not always be possible, as such, it is advisable that one wears protective equipment when dealing with cattle.

Öz: Cinsel istismar sık görülen bir halk sağlığı sorunudur ve bu olguların sadece %15 kadarı ortaya çıkmaktadır. Cinsel istismar çocuk ve ergenler üzerinde yıkıcı etkilere neden olmaktadır. Önleme ve tedavi planlaması açısından olguların demografik özelliklerinin incelendiği ayrıntılı çalışmalara gereksinim duyulmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, cinsel istismar mağduru olguların sosyodemografik özellikleri ve cinsel istismar olayının ön plana çıkan özelliklerinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. ESOGÜ Tıp Fakültesi Çocuk Adli Değerlendirme Birimi tarafından 01.01.2012-31.03.2014 tarihleri arasında değerlendirilen cinsel istismar mağduru 135 olgu çalışmaya dahil edilmiştir. Bu olguların tıbbi dosyaları ile adli raporları geriye dönük olarak incelenmiştir. Olguların %79,3'ünün kız olup, cinsel istismar olayının %41,5'inin fiziksel temas (Dokunma/öpme) şeklinde gerçekleştiği, istismarcının çoğunlukla çocuğun tanıdığı biri (%71.9) olduğu ve eylem için çocuğu zorladığı (%61,5), istismarcıların sadece %28,1'inin yabancı kişiler olduğu saptanmıştır. Çocuğun cinsel istismarı ile ilgili olarak toplumun her kesiminin bilgilendirilmesi ve her ortamda (ev, okul, sosyal çevre vb.) koruyucu önlemlerin alınması gerekmektedir. Çocuğun cinsel istismarının olası nedenlerinin anlaşılması ve önleyici yaklaşımların geliştirilebilmesi için işbirliği yapılması ve olguların ayrıntılı incelendiği çalışmaların sonuçları önemlidir. Sexual abuse leads to devastating effect on child and adolescents. More and further studies are needed for prevention and treatment. In this study, it's aimed to evaluate sociodemographic characteristics of sexual abuse victims and characteristic features of sexual abuse.135 victims of sexual abuse who were evaluated at department of forensic medicine and child and adolescent psychiatry were included in the study. Forensic reports and medical files of these cases were studied retrospectively. 79,3 % of cases were female and touching/kissingbehaviors were determined in %41,5 sexual abuse events. Violence was the most common method (61,5 %) used by perpetrators. Only 28,1 % of perpetrators were stranger.All sections of society should be informed about sexual abuse and measures must be taken at each step. Therefore, cooperation between different professional groups and supported by different studies is important.

Even though there are a few studies dealing with the cardiac effects of amylin, the mechanisms of amylin-induced positive inotropy are not known well. Therefore, we investigated the possible signaling pathways underlying the amylin-induced positive inotropy and compared the cardiac effects of rat amylin (rAmylin) and human amylin (hAmylin).Isolated rat hearts were perfused under constant flow condition and rAmylin or hAmylin was infused to the hearts. Coronary perfusion pressure, heart rate, left ventricular developed pressure and the maximum rate of increase of left ventricular pressure (+dP/dtmax) and the maximum rate of pressure decrease of left ventricle (-dP/dtmin) were measured.rAmylin at concentrations of 1, 10 or 100 nM markedly decreased coronary perfusion pressure, but increased heart rate, left ventricular developed pressure, +dP/dtmax and -dP/dtmin. The infusion of H-89 (50 μM), a protein kinase A (PKA) inhibitor did not change the rAmylin (100 nM)-induced positive inotropic effect. Both diltiazem (1 μM), an L-type Ca2+ channel blocker and ryanodine (10 nM), a sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) Ca2+ release channel opener completely suppressed the rAmylin-induced positive inotropic effect, but staurosporine (100 nM), a potent protein kinase C (PKC) inhibitor suppressed it partially. hAmylin (1, 10 and 100 nM) had no significant effect on coronary perfusion pressure, heart rate and developed pressure, +dP/dtmax and -dP/dtmin.We concluded that rAmylin might have been produced vasodilatory, positive chronotropic and positive inotropic effects on rat hearts. Ca2+ entry via L-type Ca2+ channels, activation of PKC and Ca2+ release from SR through ryanodine-sensitive Ca2+ channels may be involved in this positive inotropic effect. hAmylin may not produce any significant effect on perfusion pressure, heart rate and contractility in isolated, perfused rat hearts.
