Sexual abuse leads to devastating effect on child and adolescents. More and further studies are needed for prevention and treatment. In this study, it's aimed to evaluate sociodemographic characteristics of sexual abuse victims and characteristic features of sexual abuse.135 victims of sexual abuse who were evaluated at department of forensic medicine and child and adolescent psychiatry were included in the study. Forensic reports and medical files of these cases were studied retrospectively. 79,3 % of cases were female and touching/kissingbehaviors were determined in %41,5 sexual abuse events. Violence was the most common method (61,5 %) used by perpetrators. Only 28,1 % of perpetrators were stranger. All sections of society should be informed about sexual abuse and measures must be taken at each step. Therefore, cooperation between different professional groups and supported by different studies is important.
Objective: To examine the speech, language, and communication skills of school-age children with attention deficit and hyperactive disorder. Method: The sample of the study consists of attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder ( n = 47) participants who are combined type and attention-deficit-dominant type, and the control group ( n = 40) typically developing participants. Turkish School Age Language Development Test, Turkish Articulation and Phonology Test, Working Memory Scale, and Predictive Cluttering Inventory were applied to all participants. Results: SPSS program was used in the analysis of the data. Mann Whitney U and One Way ANOVA analyzes were performed to find the difference between the groups. As a result of the statistical analysis, a significant difference was found between the participants with typical development and those with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder in terms of word count ( p < .001). It was determined that participants with typical development outperformed participants with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder in all tests. There was no difference in the two subtypes of the attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder group ( p > .001). Conclusion: It has been concluded that language, speech, and working memory skills of children with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder are lower than their peers with typical development. Speech and language skills and working memory must be taken into consideration in assessment and intervention children with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder.
The aim of this study was to examine differences in language abilities between children who stutter and their age and gender matched peers with typical development. In this cross-sectional study, subjects were two groups of 25 children (N = 50) between the ages of 3;5 and 7;11 (years; months) who do (CWS) (mean age = 6;5) and do not stutter (CWNS) (mean age = 6;4). We administered the Turkish version of Test of Early Language Development (TELD-3) to evaluate receptive and expressive language abilities of children participated in this study. The main findings of the study were that expressive subtest and composite scores of CWS on TELD-3-T were significantly lower than CWNS while the difference between groups was not significant on TELD-3-T receptive subtest score. Expressive language scores and total language scores of CWS are below their peers.
