Learning style is the composite of cognitive, affective, and physiological characteristics that serve as relatively stable indicators of how a learner perceives, interacts and responds to the learning environment. Felder – Solomon Index of Learning Style (ILS) includes Sensitive/Intuitive, Visual/Verbal and Sequential/ Global, Active/reflective. The learning strategies are a major indicator of exam performance of students.Objective:  To find the association between academiclearning strategies and annual examination results among medical students of King Edward Medical University.Study Design:  Cross – sectional study design.Study Setting and Duration:  King Edward Medical University and 3 months.Materials and Methods:  The study was conducted among the 3rd, 4th, and 5th year medical students of KEMU Lahore. Informed consent was taken. A total of 300 students, 100 each from 3rd, 4th and 5th year were taken. 132 males (44%) and 168 females (56%) were part of the study. Simple Random sampling (non-pro-bability sampling) was used.Results:  The overall dominant learning strategies among students of King Edward Medical University were sensing/SNS (64.3%), visual/VIS (80.7%), sequential/SEQ (63.7%) and Active/ACT (50.3%). Chi squared test for individual learning combinations against achiever types showed no significant association between academic learning strategies and annual exam performance (p value > 0.05). Results also showed that females performed better academically than their male counterparts.

The combination of laser light sources and MEMS technology enables a range of display systems such as ultra small projectors for mobile devices, head-up displays for vehicles, wearable near-eye displays and projection systems for 3D imaging. Images are created by scanning red, green and blue lasers horizontally and vertically with a single two-dimensional MEMS. Due to the excellent beam quality of laser beams, the optical designs are efficient and compact. In addition, the laser illumination enables saturated display colors that are desirable for augmented reality applications where a virtual image is used. With this technology, the smallest projector engine for high volume manufacturing to date has been developed. This projector module has a height of 7 mm and a volume of 5 cc. The resolution of this projector is WVGA. No additional projection optics is required, resulting in an infinite focus depth. Unlike with micro-display projection displays, an increase in resolution will not lead to an increase in size or a decrease in efficiency. Therefore future projectors can be developed that combine a higher resolution in an even smaller and thinner form factor with increased efficiencies that will lead to lower power consumption.

High temperature continuous-wave (CW) operation of 1310-nm single-frequency grating-outcoupled surface emitting (GSE) semiconductor lasers with output powers exceeding 3.0 mW into a multi-mode fiber, threshold currents below 30 mA and with > 30dB side-mode suppression ratios at temperatures of up to 85 C are reported. These lasers consist of a 400 µm long horizontal cavity, and a 15 µm long second-order outcoupler grating sandwiched between 200 µm long first-order distributed Bragg reflector (DBRs) gratings. Higher output powers can be achieved with longer outcoupler gratings. These GSE lasers operate at 3.125 Gbps and have a full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) beam divergence of 7 x 13 degrees.

These lasers consist of a 500 µm long horizontal cavity, and a 10 µm long second-order outcoupler grating sandwiched between 250 µm long first-order distributed Bragg reflector (DBRs) gratings. Higher output powers can be achieved with longer outcoupler gratings. These GSE lasers operate at 2.5 Gbps and have a full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) beam divergence of 5 x 9 degrees.
