This study aims to: (1) describe the literacy components based on the PIRLS version, (2) identify the constructs of reading literacy competence for Grade IV of the elementaryschool, and (3) make a draft of the constructs of literacy competence for Grade IV of theelementary school in the Indonesian version. The data were collected through literaturereview, interviews, and focus group discussion. They were analyzed by the qualitativedescriptive technique. The results are as follows. First, the literacy components basedon the PIRLS version comprise: the reading literacy concept, assessment framework,benchmark, literary text components, and assessment system determination. Second, thereading literacy competence is constructed as the competence to read and comprehendliterary and informative texts, based on four cognitive levels, from a variety of text typesin line with the social context around the students and the national context. Third, theconstructs of literacy competence in the Indonesian version consist of: 2-5 difficult words,a text length of 200 words, the composition of low to high cognitive levels of 30-30-3010,textthemessuitabletoIndonesianconditionandculture,cleartextillustrations,andtables/graphspresentedingradation.Theresultsareimportantasliteracyinformationforthe basis for developingeducational policies in Indonesia.
Nowadays, English has become one of the subjects that must be mastered. Thus, English learning should be done from an early age. This research aimed to describe how Total Physical Response (TPR) method can improve English vocabulary achievement in 5-6 years old children. TPR is the language learning approach which stimulates the children in acquiring their mother language which implemented in teaching foreign languages. The samples of this research were 5-6 years students of TK (Kindergarten) An-Nisa, Rokan Hilir, Riau Province, Indonesia with the total samples 15 students. This research used qualitative research. The data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics, analyzing the scores of English vocabularies. The results showed that noun categories had the highest percentage in vocabulary acquisition (97.78 %), then followed by verbs (86.67 %) and adjectives (62.22 %). Meanwhile, the percentages of vocabularies that used by children were verbs (24.44 %), nouns (11.11 %), while the children were still not capable in using adjectives (0 %). The results of this research is expected to contribute to the development of English learning for young learners.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media game digital edukatif yang efektif untuk pembelajaran menulis laporan perjalanan siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian R & D melalui tahapan analisis kebutuhan, pembuatan desain game, validasi produk, dan uji coba lapangan. Media game digital edukatif yang dikembangkan ini layak digunakan untuk pembelajaran menulis laporan perjalanan siswa SMP berdasarkan hasil validasi produk oleh ahli materi dengan hasil rata-rata yaitu 4,67 termasuk dalam kategori sangat baik, sedangkan validasi ahli media dengan hasil rata-rata 4,21 termasuk dalam kategori baik. Berdasarkan uji keefektifan menggunakan uji-t pada saat uji coba lapangan menunjukkan bahwa nilai t hitung (4,543) > t tabel (30;0,05) adalah (1,697). Oleh karena itu, media game digital edukatif yang telah dikembangkan efektif digunakan untuk pembelajaran menulis laporan perjalanan siswa SMP. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan hubungan minat membaca, fasilitas orang tua, dan pemberian tugas membaca di sekolah dengan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas VIII SMP negeri di Kabupaten Brebes. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian ex post facto dengan populasi seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMPN Negeri di Kabupaten Brebes. Sampel ditentukan lewat teknik stratified random sampling berdasarkan nilai akreditasi sekolah A, B, dan C. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Uji prasyarat dilakukan dengan uji normalitas, linieritas, dan homogenitas. Pengujian hipotesis dilakukan dengan analisis korelasi sederhana, korelasi parsial, dan korelasi ganda. Hasil penelitian ini adalah minat membaca (X1), fasilitas orang tua (X2), dan pemberian tugas membaca di sekolah (X3) berhubungan positif dan signifikan dengan kemampuan membaca pemahaman (Y) pada siswa kelas VIII SMP negeri di Kabupaten Brebes (ry1-23=0,294, ry2-13=0,302, ry3-12=0,255, Ry-123= 0,489). This was an ex post facto research with the population of all eighth grade students in Brebes Regency. The samples were determined by a stratified random sampling technique based on school accreditation strata of A, B and C. Data was analyzed using a descriptive analysis. The pre-condition test was conducted by normality, linearit, and homogeneity tests. The hypothesis examination was conducted by a simple correlation, partial correlation, and multiple correlations. This research result was interest in reading (X1), parents’ facilities (X2) and giving task of reading in school (X3) jointly positively and significantly related to the reading comprehension (Y) in the students of the eighth grade of State Junior High School (SMP) in Brebes Regency (ry1-23=0,294, ry2-13=0,302, ry3-12=0,255, Ry-123= 0,489). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kurikulum bahasa dalam perspektif inovasi pembelajaran ditinjau dari Kerangka Kualifikasi Nasional Indonesia (KKNI) dan Standar Nasional Pendidikan Tinggi (SN-Dikti). Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan metode analisis isi. Sumber data berupa naskah Kurikulum Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris dan Pendidikan Bahasa Prancis, Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Instrumen berupa human instrument dilengkapi dengan lembar analisis untuk menelaah dokumen. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif kualitatif dibantu kuantitatif. Kredibilitas penelitian dicapai melalui reliabilitas interater. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut. Pertama, profil lulusan belum dirumuskan berdasarkan realitas profesi yang ada di lapangan sehingga belum secara optimal dapat memberikan pemahaman tentang pengalaman belajar yang dirumuskan melalui capaian pembelajaran. Kedua, kompetensi belum dielaborasi secara lengkap dan relevan ke dalam capaian pembelajaran, profil lulusan, dan model pembelajaran. Ketiga, rumusan kompetensi sikap sudah menjadi bagian dari penyemaian dan pembentukan konsepsi dan perilaku individu tentang kesadaran identitas kebangsaan dan kenegaraan. Namun, kompetensi penguasaan pengetahuan, keterampilan khusus, dan keterampilan umum belum lengkap dan relevan dengan pembelajaran inovatif. LANGUAGE EDUCATION CURRICULUM IN LEARNING INNOVATION PERSPECTIVEThis study was aimed at describing the language education curriculum in the perspective of learning innovation at the Faculty of Languages and Arts, Yogyakarta State University in reference of Indonesian Qualifiation Framework (IQF) and National Higher Education Standards (NHES). The research design used descriptive qualitative and content analysis method. The data were obtained from the curriculum texts of English Language Education and French Language Education Study Programs. Human instrument equipped with an analysis sheet was used to review the data. The data then analyzed using the descriptive analysis method. The credibility of this study was achieved through an inter-rater reliability. The results show that: first, the profile of graduates has not been formulated based on the reality of the field profession so that it has not been able to optimally provide an understanding of learning experiences formulated through learning outcomes. Second, the competencies have not been elaborated completely and relevant into learning outcomes, graduate profiles, and learning models. Third, the formulation of attitude competencies has become part of the seeding and formation of individual conceptions and behaviors about national and state identity awareness, but the competence in mastering knowledge, special skills, and general skills is not yet complete and relevant to innovative learning.
