Therapy of stunted children with oxandrolone has been associated with probable acceleration of vertical growth in 11 out of 20 patients. This was generally not accompanied by acceleration of skeletal maturation. One of three patients with proved gonadal dysgenesis grew faster during treatment. Sexual pseudoprecocity did not develop in the males nor were arrhenomimetic effects observed in the females.
