Majikan kini memerlukan pekerja yang menguasai kemahiran teknikal dan kemahiran employability. Namun kemahiran employability yang dikuasai oleh graduan institusi pendidikan tinggi masih tidak dapat memenuhi kriteria yang diingini oleh majikan terutamanya dalam bidang kejuruteraan. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk meninjau tahap kemahiran employability pelajar kejuruteraan institusi teknikal dari perspektif majikan. Kajian ini menggunakan reka bentuk kajian kuantitatif dan kaedah kajian tinjauan. Seramai 171 responden daripada majikan kejuruteraan yang menyediakan latihan industri kepada pelajar terlibat dalam kajian ini. Instrumen kajian ini diadaptasi daripada instrumen Modul Kemahiran Insaniah Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi Malaysia, Secretary’s Commission on Achieving Necessary Skill (SCANS) Amerika, Kerangka Kelayakan Malaysia (KKM), MyGSI, IKGPP dan beberapa model daripada kajian terdahulu. Pemboleh ubah yang dikaji ialah kemahiran komunikasi, kemahiran kerohanian, kerja berpasukan, kepimpinan, pembelajaran sepanjang hayat dan pengurusan maklumat, pemikiran kritikal dan penyelesaian masalah, keusahawanan, etika dan moral, menggunakan teknologi dan kemahiran sosial. Data soal selidik dianalisis menggunakan kaedah analisis deskriptif dan inferens. Hasil analisis mendapati tahap kemahiran employability pelajar kejuruteraan daripada perspektif majikan berada pada tahap sederhana tinggi. Hasil kajian juga menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbezaan yang signifikan di antara kemahiran employability pelajar yang dinilai berbanding jenis industri, jawatan dan pengalaman majikan dan lokasi syarikat.
Saudi Arabia has a bank-centric and diverse financial system compared with other countries in the region. This paper uses basic DEA models i.e. CCR and BCR to evaluate the relative efficiency of Saudi Banks using annual data from 2003 through 2008. The results show that, on a relative scale, Saudi banks were efficient in the management of their financial resources. In addition, the results would provide crucial information about Saudi banks' financial conditions and management performance for the benefit of bank regulators, managers and bank stock investors.
Low-frequency noise properties of 100 nm-thick Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of stearic acid in a metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) structure have been studied as a function of frequency and leakage current. The excess noise is found to be consistently 1/f -like within a range of frequencies between 1 Hz to 1 kHz when leakage current is varied from 10 −8 A to 10 −4 A. The sources of noises are identified; the trap density is estimated to be 3.6 × 10 18 m −2 eV −1 .
HEIs integrating AHP, SWOT and QSPM in Strategic Planning or strategy formulation, is less likely to overlook or weight inappropriately in deciding which alternative strategies to pursue while considering the key external/internal factors. This paper demonstrates the integration of the qualitative and quantitative techniques, such as SWOT, QSPM, with AHP in crafting the strategy of a business school in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. As evidenced the proposed model improves upon by integrating AHP while developing a QSPM. It is believed that this model is more objective and robust in terms of crafting a strategy for the HEIs.
Calixarenes are promising compounds to be used as ionophores and for molecular recognition. Their ability to form Langmuir and Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films is of great interest in order to obtain small sensor devices which incorporate an active nanometric film. Calix[4]arene (Calix4) has been used in this work and its ability to form Langmuir films has been shown. Calix4 forms monolayers but at higher compressions tends to form multilayers. The presence of ions in the subphase, as lead chloride salt solutions, leads to some changes in the surface pressure-area (П-A) isotherms and surface potential-area (ΔV-A) isotherms. The effective dipole moments (μ) of the calixarene molecules in the uncomplexed and complexed states has been calculated from the ΔV values by using Helmholtz equation. Some characteristics of the films and mean molecular area have been deduced from the isotherms graph.
Metal-Insulator-Semiconductor structures were fabricated using 40 layers thick Langmuir-Rlodgett (LR) films of stearic acid (SA) on hydrophobic n-type silicon (n-Si) substrates. Samples containing cadmium sulphide (CdS) nanoparticles exhibit higher rectification than untreated ones by two orders of magnitudes. The flat band voltage is found to be 0.5V from the capacitance measurement. The effective dielectric constant of the CdS embedded SA matrix is estimated to he 5.2.
