Background:Shwas kuthar rasa is a prestigious and potential herbomineral formulation of Ayurveda tested on 100 years of time scale for the treatment of asthma, allergy, and other respiratory problems. However, there is a lack of scientific work on Shwas kuthar rasa.Objective:To prepare and physicochemically evaluate mercury-based Shwas kuthar rasa herbomineral formulation of Ayurveda for asthma and allergy.Materials and Methods:Shwas kuthar rasa was prepared as per Ayurvedic text and characterized by various modern analytical techniques, viz., transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), far infrared (IR) spectroscopy, fourier transform IR spectroscopy, energy dispersive X-ray analysis, and inductively coupled plasma-mass spectroscopy.Results:Study clearly revealed that prepared Shwas kuthar rasa formulation shows several crystallites agglomerate into a single particle. It yields submicron size particle structure (1.22 μ) with TEM analysis. The usage of mercury in the formulation found in the form of mercuric sulfide (HgS) and reaching to nanocrystalline (31–56 nm) size by XRD analysis.Conclusion:The present study indicates Shwas kuthar rasa is nanocrystallite with submicron size particle. Trituration of Kajjali helps in the formation of HgS and increases the crystallinity in the formulation.

The study was carried out to evaluate the hepatoprotective effect of polyherbal formulation YAK samples on paracetamol induced liver toxicity in rats. Albino rats were divided into six groups consisting of twelve animals in each group. Each group was subdivided into preventive & curative groups. Group I served as Healthy control. Group II received paracetamol (2 gm/kg, p.o. on 13 th day), Groups III, IV, V and VI received Silymarin, YAK-001, YAK-PVX002 and YAK-PVZ003 respectively orally for 15 days. On 13 th day 6 animals in each group were administered paracetamol (2 gm/kg, p.o) After 48 hours of paracetamol administration, these rats were subjected for preventive effect evaluation. Similarly, the animals in all the curative groups received a single dose of paracetamol (2 gm/kg, p.o.) on the 1 st day followed by the respective drug treatment as in preventive group for 15 days to evaluate the curative effect. Serum biomarker levels were assessed in serum and histopathology of liver was assessed. Significant (p<0.01) rise in serum levels of SGOT, SGPT, ALP, GGT and ACP was observed in paracetamol (2 gm/kg, p.o.) treated rats. In contrast, treatment with YAK-001, YAK-PVX002 and YAK-PVZ003 exhibited the ability to counteract the paracetamol induced hepatotoxicity by decreasing the serum enzyme levels when compared to control in preventive and curative studies. YAK-001 showed enhanced preventive and curative effect in hepatotoxicity induced in rats than YAK-PVX002 and YAK-PVZ003 in albino rats. However, curative effect is enhanced hepatoprotection than preventive effect.

Objective: Polymer-drug conjugates have gained much attention largely to circumvent lower drug solubility and to enhance drug stability. Curcumin is widely known for its medicinal properties including its anticancer efficacy. One of the serious drawbacks of curcumin is its poor water solubility which leads to reduced bioavailability. Materials and methods: Synthesized hyaluronic acid-curcumin (HA-Cur) conjugate. The drug conjugate was characterized using FT-IR technique. The conjugates, interestingly found to assembles as micelles in aqueous phase. The formationof micelles seems to improve the stability of the drug in physiological pH. We also assessed cytotoxicity of the conjugate usingMCF-7, HBL 100 and Hela cell line and quantified by MTT assay. The results showed Conjugate Results: (HA-Cur) produced extremely significant reduction in percentage cell viability in dose dependent inhibitory effect on growth of cell lines. Conjugated curcumin also showed cytotoxicity reflecting its potential in targeted Conclusion: drug delivery applications.

And haematological parameters, differential count, body weight changes and mean survival time was assessed. Results: The results showed Conjugate (HA-Cur) produced extremely significant as anticancer activity by change in haematological parameters, differential count, body weight changes and mean survival time. Conclusion: Conjugated curcumin also showed potential anticancer activity.
