Vehicle fuel consumption is one of the most important operational characteristics of road vehicles. The fuel consumption can be determined by different methods under laboratory conditions or by carrying out drive tests. One of the possibilities to quantify a way of vehicle driving is to analyse the selected parameters of the fuel mixture electronic control system. The objective of the paper is to predict fuel consumption via parameters of throttle position and engine speed. The measurement was carried out in the laboratory of the Department of Road and Urban Transport by using a MAHA roller dynamometer. The result is an estimation of accuracy of such fuel consumption determination and its possible utilisation for a system of assessing the vehicle driving style of drivers.
The paper deals with the issue of efficiency of public passenger transport through financial support from public funds from the perspective of improving road safety. The aim is to verify the hypothesis that financing public passenger transport from public funds is a significant tool to influence the number of passengers carried by individual automobile transport, and thus it can be used a tool for influencing road safety in a particular territory. The first part of the paper analyses the sources for financial support of public passenger transport. The next part describes the assumptions for improving road safety through increasing the support of public passenger transport. The last part analyses possible impacts of financing public passenger transport on the road safety in relation to the specified hypothesis.
The paper includes the research outputs in the area of examining the total costs of delivering products to the customer for a particular transport mode choice. The methodology of choice procedure is presented based on the calculation of threshold distance for different variants of shipments in road and rail transport based on delivery costs. The paper also assesses the possibility of compiling a multi-criteria function for enterprise logistics, that beside the costs takes into account also other aspects as rail transport availability, time for loading and unloading, shipping time or environmental impacts.
The paper deals with the issue of taxes and charges in road freight transport in the Slovak Republic and the selected European countries. The aim is to compare and evaluate the position of the Slovak carriers towards foreign ones when doing business in the common European market. The selected kinds of taxes and charges (or costs items) relate to different production factors of road transport undertakings (vehicles, drivers, road infrastructure). Also, the legislation on taxes and charges differs among individual countries and differences can be observed in the principles of taxation. The objective is to make a comprehensive objectified comparison when taking into account several selected taxes, charges and costs in road transport.
Mechanical resistance consists of rolling tire resistance and power losses of vehicle drive train. Rolling resistance is done by deformation of vehicle tires on road surface. Power losses represent resistances of bearings and wheels rolling and oil wading. This resistance acts continuously during vehicle wheels rotation. The value of this driving resistance is possible to test by different methods. Laboratory tests on rotating drum or dynamometer are usually used. This paper deals about rare method -coastdown exterior driving test. It was done with a casual truck trailer set. Results of this test method show the value of this resistance forces which are converted into a coefficient of mechanical resistance and discussed in the point of view of rolling resistance coefficient values.
Abstract. The paper deals with the logistics of entry of freight vehicles to be unloaded or loaded in logistics and industrial parks. This problem is not systematically addressed when designing new logistics parks and industrial companies in the Slovak Republic neither in Europe nor in the world. Based on the research applied to the production company, a methodology for calculating the number of parking spaces was proposed. As it is possible to use simulation methods for solving this issue, the authors also deal with this possibility. The aim is to verify the accuracy of the proposed coefficients as well as to propose changes in the Slovak technical standard.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
