Certain changes in the lipid content of the serum following bilateral nephrectomy or ureteral ligation have been noted (1, 2). The extent and character of these changes, the factors affecting them, and the associated changes in the composition of the liver form the subject of this paper. For comparative purposes the effects of unilateral nephrectomy, of splenectomy, of fasting, and of other procedures have also been studied.
