Resistance and reactance of chilled, frozen‐thawed and double frozen‐thawed fillets of Atlantic chub mackerel (Scomber colias) were measured in a frequency range from 0.1 to 1,000 kHz. After the measurements in the fresh state, one group of samples was slow frozen in a freezer set at temperature −20 ± 2C, while the second group was fast frozen by immersion in liquid nitrogen. After 14 days of frozen storage, the samples were thawed and electrical parameters were measured. The measurements were repeated on double frozen‐thawed samples. Results showed that the reactance measured at frequencies higher than 150 kHz can distinguish fast frozen from slow frozen fillets. Obtained difference between freezing cycles measured with the reactance at low frequencies could have been influenced by electrode polarization and the consequence of the measuring setup. Overall findings are in accordance with the ones obtained on the farmed fish indicating that the reactance may point to the differences in a fish muscle structure caused by different freezing history. PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS This preliminary work is addressing the problem of varying quality of frozen fish fillets on the market today. Therefore, bioelectrical impedance measurements were used to monitor fish tissue properties after freezing under different conditions. Impedance measurements and especially reactance show the potential of detecting the differences among fillets with different freezing history. With further adjustments of the measuring setup and proving the advantage of this method over other spectroscopic techniques, this method may be used in a quality control of frozen fish.

The paper describes a method aimed at providing objective diagnostic testing of skilled locomotor stereotypes. Bioelectric muscle activity indices and ground reaction force data are used to represent a movement structure, in a schematized way, using discrete states in time. Athletes were asked to perform one specific movement structure: a backward somersault from the standing position. Mathematical analyses of measured signals reveal the significance, for the skill level evaluation, of parameters reflecting the impulsive take-off force waveform and the symmetry in EMG activity of ankle extensor muscles, which therefore might be used as diagnostic criteria. Within technical limitations, this approach may also be applied to other locomotor patterns and possibly to monitor the progress in motorics in pathological locomotion. EMG telemetry could significantly enhance the method's scope.

Family medicine practices form the basis of the Croatian health system. They solve the largest number of health problems and collect the most health data with the lowest operational cost. However, the software support required for the running of these offices at the time being is still certified only based on the principal communication criteria, while all other essential functionalities are generally uneven and left to the will of the producers. It is necessary to assess the quality of this type of software. Based on previous theoretical and experimental research in this area, the initial quality assessment model consisting of six basic categories and the questionnaire by which the Croatian family physicians evaluated the quality of the functionalities applied in their software support were made. The resulting novel model is multiple validated, comprehensive and universal. The intense ergonomic orientation of the novel measurement model was particularly emphasized.
