Este trabalho é resultado de uma pesquisa – e seus desdobramentos – que teve início em 2007. A pesquisa tem como objeto e fonte primária os jornais e periódicos luso-brasileiros dos séculos XVIII e XIX e se fundamenta teórico-metodologicamente na História Cultural. Esta pesquisa considera que os periódicos não são apenas “arquivos” onde se publicaram os “clássicos” da literatura, mas condição determinante para a criação e a consolidação de alguns gêneros literários, o que implica em tomar este suporte como responsável tanto pela economia interna da linguagem, como pela divulgação e circulação da cultura escrita do 19 (Mckenzie, 2004). Ademais, observa-se, nestes anos de pesquisa desenvolvida diretamente nos periódicos, que aos jornais e aos autores dos séculos XVIII até meados do XIX eram alheias algumas noções que embasaram e fomentaram as compilações e estudos sobre as Cartas Chilenas desde 1863, quando da sua primeira publicação em livro. Nasce aí a pergunta que sempre acompanhou esta sátira: “Quem é o autor”? Trata-se de uma abordagem da literatura e dos escritos literários baseados na individualização da escrita, na originalidade das obras e na canonização do autor, que não suportava a angústia de uma obra não ter um autor que lhe corresponda. Assim, tal qual fez-se e comprovou-se que a Epístola a Critilo não é obra de Tomás Antonio Gonzaga, mas uma publicação satírica publicada no Jornal Científico, Econômico, e Literário, ou Coleção de Várias Peças, Memórias, Relações, Viagens, Poesias, e Anedota (1826), cujo alvo são os desmandos de D. Pedro I (XXXX, 2013), este trabalho demonstrará como a sátira As Cartas Chilenas deve ser compreendido como um escrito de 1845, publicado no periódico Minerva Brasiliense, cuja temática corresponde à murmuração do corpo imperial, sobretudo aquele que se desenvolvia como atos discursivos nos jornais e periódicos de 1845 contra algumas decisões de D. Pedro II desde sua ascensão ao trono, através do Golpe da Maioridade ao perdão aos participantes da Revolução Farroupilha
Este artigo tem o propósito de analisar os compêndios didáticos e sua indicação, a partir de sua significação no contexto do discurso oficial do Império, através de leis, regulamentos e relatórios. Abrange também a discussão sobre a circulação, a indicação e o conteúdo de alguns compêndios escolares, cuja existência foi registrada nesses documentos legais. O material empírico analisado compreende o período de 1837, ano do primeiro discurso publicado, até 1886, da Lei nº 20, de 6 de maio de 1837, e da resolução nº 36, de 26 de junho de 1886. A pesquisa, de caráter bibliográfico e documental, está inscrita na abordagem teórico-metodológica de Michel Foucault. Os resultados do estudo mostraram que os livros analisados tinham seu uso regulado pelo Estado, imprimindo neles a imagem da Igreja e do Império e divulgando o que devia ser lido e como devia ser lida a proposta política do Império. A partir do discurso oficial do Estado Imperial, verificamos que o ensino das crianças na escola de Primeiras Letras desenvolvia-se através do conteúdo pedagógico e das representações de leitura, de leitor e de alunos.
ESTE TRABALHO TEM COMO OBJETIVO APRESENTAR, ATRAVÉS DA ANÁLISE DO ROMANCE MOCIDADE MORTA (1900), DE GONZAGA DUQUE, AS DISCUSSÕES OCORRIDAS NO BRASIL SOBRE ACADEMICISMO E ANTIACADEMICISMO, PRINCIPALMENTE O LEVADO A CABO PELAS ARTES PLÁSTICAS NO IMPÉRIO. NO QUE TANGE AO ANTIACADEMICISMO, TAMBÉM IMPORTA INSERI-LO EM UMA TRADIÇÃO QUE, AO CONTRÁRIO DO QUE SE SUPUNHA, NÃO TERIA NASCIDO DA INSPIRAÇÃO DAS VANGUARDAS EUROPÉIAS DO SÉCULO XX, NEM COM O MODERNISMO BRASILEIRO, MAS DE UM DEBATE QUE SE INSTALOU DENTRO DO BRASIL NO INÍCIO DA REPÚBLICA.
Este artigo visa demonstrar como o escritor Machado de Assis (1839-1908) contribuiu para a formação do gênero crônica no Brasil, utilizando-se das dimensões e da abrangência do suporte jornal. Abordamos especificamente suas posições acerca das propostas de Castro Lopes (1827-1901), famoso filólogo do final do século XIX que propôs substituir, na língua portuguesa, alguns estrangeirismos por vocábulos novos, criados por ele em maioria a partir do latim. Para tanto, analisaremos três crônicas publicadas sob pseudônimo e cuja autoria foi atribuída ao autor fluminense em 1955. As crônicas da série Bons Dias!, lançadas no periódico Gazeta de Notícias entre os anos de 1888 e 1889, tratavam majoritariamente dos grandes acontecimentos políticos da época, o que torna os três escritos selecionados como isolados dessa temática. Sendo assim, mostramos que o autor dessas crônicas, através de um discurso essencialmente retórico, tentava persuadir seus leitores a refletirem sobre as ideias do mencionado latinista. Para embasar o nosso trabalho, valemo-nos principalmente de Candido (1992) e Meyer (1992) no tocante ao estudo da crônica, assim como de Lausberg (1967), para a compreensão das técnicas da retórica. Também subsidiamos nossa análise em Farias (2013), Gledson (2008), Barbosa (2011), Betella (2006) e Magalhães Júnior (1985; 2008).
<p>A escola constitui-se um espaço privilegiado para estimular o gosto pela leitura, cabendo a ela, portanto, a promoção do acesso às obras literárias, de maneira a provocar os chamados “comportamentos leitores”. Nesse contexto, torna-se imperiosa, para a formação de leitores, uma abordagem em torno dessa mediação que reconheça na escolarização da literatura um processo inevitável no universo escolar. Inserindo-se nessa discussão, a partir da concepção de que o letramento literário é fonte e principal função da literatura escolarizada, o presente artigo busca lançar aqui algumas reflexões, notadamente no que se refere ao acesso à leitura de textos literários, acerca de práticas docentes adotadas para a mediação da leitura literária na escola. Para fundamentar as discussões, buscamos como referência estudos de especialistas que reforçam a preocupação com o ensino de literatura e coadunam com a nossa forma de pensar e conceber o seu lugar na escola.</p><br /><p><em> </em></p>
