The role of entrepreneurs in attaining Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is paramount. Entrepreneurs with strong awareness and commitment to sustainable development help to attain almost all SDGs, as they create businesses that will help employment, eliminate poverty, provide decent work and economic growth, help to reduce hunger, assist in attaining good health and wellbeing, help to achieve affordable and clean energy, and enhance their industries. Realizing the importance of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship, the government of Malaysia has taken proactive actions to develop and inculcate the entrepreneurial mindset through entrepreneurship education at higher education. This study aims to apply the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to analyze the effect of an entrepreneurship course on entrepreneurial intentions of the engineering students at Universiti Teknologi Petronas, as entrepreneurial intention is effective in predicting behavior. A quantitative technique and descriptive cross-sectional study have been employed to collect data. The result of this study indicates that the TPB explains and predicts the entrepreneurial intention. However, the Multigroup Analysis (MGA) results show that attending the entrepreneurship course does not increase the strength of the relationship between the exogenous and endogenous construct compared to those who do not attend the course. The results of this study raise a positive implication toward the improvement of the course curriculum and the teaching pedagogy. An in-depth qualitative study to understand the issue will help to improve the curriculum and pedagogy of entrepreneurship education, and eventually enable a realization of the government’s aspirations.
The liberation of world trade has significantly reduced Malaysian government protectionism of its national automotive industry. Local manufacturers have to strive for excellence in order to be able to compete in a business world that is dominated by a few big players. They cannot compete without excellent organizational behavior and culture. One of the important aspects of organizational culture and behavior is market orientation. A company's ability to win orders depends on how much it and the other companies in the supply chain are able to understand, translate and act upon customer requirements. This study is devoted to analyzing the relationship between market orientation, supply chain management, and the supply chain performance of all the industry's supply chain players. It also examines the mediating effect of supply chain management. Data were collected from manufacturers and suppliers in the automotive industry in Malaysia through questionnaires. Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed to test the above relationship. The results indicate that supply chain management mediates the relationship between market orientation and supply chain performance. However, they also show that the relationship between market orientation and supply chain performance is insignificant. This finding has a major implication for policymakers and manufacturers, as will be discussed in this paper.
Previous research has consistently demonstrated that team work quality plays an important role in predicting the speed of new product development (NPD). However, the examination of the fundamental mechanisms behind this relationship has received less attention than it deserves. Drawing on the resource-based view and internal market orientation theories, this chapter examines mediating effect of internal market orientation in the relationship between teamwork quality and speed of new product development. One hundred and forty-nine team members drawn from the telecom companies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in this study. Partial least squares path modelling was employed to test mediating effect of internal market orientation in the relationship between teamwork quality and NPD speed. Findings suggest a positive relationship between teamwork quality and NPD speed. As hypothesized, the findings showed that of internal market orientation mediated the relationship between teamwork quality and NPD speed.
