RESUMOA lichia (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) ABSTRACTLychee is a subtropical fruit of high commercial value, due to its slightly acid taste, excellent aroma, high nutritive value and attractive deep bright red color of its peel. Also in the field, skin color changes easily, becoming dark in response to stress (changes in relative humidity and the incidence of pathogens). Harvested lychee fruit rapidly loses its bright red skin colour. Peel browning of harvested lychee has largely been attributed to the rapid degradation of the anthocyanin pigments as well as the rapid loss of moisture from the fruit and the activity of oxidative enzymes such polyphenoloxidase and peroxidases. Due to it high perishability, browning control is a fundamental process to the increase of post-harvest useful life aiming the home market and fruit exportation. This study evaluated the postharvest behavior of Litchi cv. Bengal fruits regarding pericarp browning and changes on lychee fruits pulp quality when different packing is applied: plastic trays covered with parafilm or solely parafilm, and fruits covered with cassava starch film (3%). Lychee fruits were stored for six days at room temperature (25.1ºC±1.5; 69.3%UR). Physical, chemical and biochemical analyses were performed on day 0 and on every two days till the end of the storage period. The package covered with perforated polyethy...
Palavras-chave: hortelã-pimenta, cultura de tecidos, giberelina, auxina, citocinina ABSTRACT:Plant growth regulators on in vitro culture of Mentha x piperita L. Micropropagation is a technique used for the large-scale production of medicinal plants. Among them, peppermint (Mentha x piperita L.) may be mentioned because of the pharmacological importance of its essential oil, which is used on the treatment of digestive and respiratory disorders. Studies are needed in order to optimize the micropropagation protocol of this species, especially concerning the culture medium, to ensure the in vitro mass clonal production and to enable the future extraction of the plant essential oil. Therefore, this work aimed to evaluate the effects of concentrations and combinations of different plant growth regulators on the in vitro morphogenesis of peppermint. Nodal segments from plantlets already established in vitro were used as explants and inoculated on MS medium supplemented with 0, 2.0 and 4.0 mg L -1 of BAP (6-benzylaminopurine), 0, 0.5 and 1.5 mg L -1 of NAA (naphthalene acetic acid) and 0; 0.5 and 1.0 mg L -1 of GA 3 (gibberellic acid). The experiment was in a completely randomized design, set up as a 3x3x3 factorial design with eight replicates. We concluded that BAP increases the survival rate of in vitro inoculated nodal segments of M. x piperita. In ad...
Potato is the world's most important non-cereal food crop, and therefore, it is considered one of the major food sources for humankind. Its conventional propagation is asexual, by using the tuber, which allows the accumulation and dissemination of pathogens to new cultivation areas. This fact not only impairs the yield of this solanaceous plant, but also threatens the maintenance of genotypes for commercial or breeding purposes. Due to the impossibility of using botanical seed, conservation and exchange of germplasm of this species by means of conventional methods are not feasible. In all potato-producing regions, the demand for high-quality tubers has been paramount to ensure crops production. Thus, biotechnological techniques based on tissue culture are very important. Plant tissue culture offers alternative methods of propagation by in vitro techniques that provide production and multiplication of material with high sanity. Thus, this literature review summarizes the history and current situation of tissue culture techniques applied to potato crop. Besides clonal multiplication, this biotechnological tool makes available initial indexed material to breeding programs and certified seed potato, and facilitates the exchange and conservation of germplasm. For all these reasons, the use of these techniques in potato production chain directly benefits producers by providing high-quality propagules.

In micropropagation, BAP (6-benzylaminopurine) and KIN (kinetin) have been the most widely used sources of cytokinins. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of plant growth regulators in multiplication of peppermint. Explants consisting of nodal segments from seedlings already established in vitro with approximately 0,5 cm were inoculated on MS medium supplemented with different combinations of BAP and KIN and 30 g L -1 of sucrose. The concentrations of cytokinins used were 0,0; 1,0 and 2,0 mg L -1 of BAP and 0,0; 0,5 and 1,0 mg L -1 of KIN. The experiment was set up in a completely randomized design with nine treatments consisting of five bottles each, and each vial contained four explants. The use of 2,0 mg L -1 of BAP promotes the in vitro multiplication of peppermint, but decreases the survival rate. Cytokinins increase fresh and dry weight of explants and the absence of these regulators provides the elongation in this specie.
RESUMO:O presente trabalho teve por objetivo estabelecer in vitro a espécie Lippia alba (Mill.)
