Este trabalho tece uma comparação entre as obras de João Guimarães Rosa e Mia Couto, contemplando as semelhanças e diferenças entre seus projetos estéticos, tendo como fio condutor a tradição oral. Segundo Walter Benjamin, todos os grandes escritores hauriram da tradição oral e, Ángel Rama parece corroborar com isso, quando diz que os escritores da modernidade recorrem a essa vertente para tecerem as suas narrativas. Rosa e Mia se voltam para o passado e seus olhares se cruzam ao recriarem as lendas, mitos, ritos, provérbios e chistes na elaboração de seus textos. É certo que, a tradição oral em suas narrativas não representa os costumes de seus povos na íntegra, uma vez que, na obra de Guimarães Rosa é retratada como algo evanescente e, mesmo na de Mia Couto, que faz parte do cotidiano, ela já aparece fragmentada. Porém, a preocupação maior é com o processo de recriação, pois este acaba nos remetendo à história de seus países, uma vez que as perspectivas dos autores parecem convergir no mesmo ponto: a "modernização" implantada de maneira brusca naquelas sociedades, relegando a uma "terceira margem", grande parte de suas populações. Brasil e Moçambique são países que têm em comum a língua portuguesa, herdada do colonizador que foi o mesmo. No entanto, são portadores de culturas distintas, pois, apesar da semelhança entre os elementos que as compõem, os valores são diferentes. As narrativas de João Guimarães Rosa e de Mia Couto não representam a História, mas contam história. Dessa forma, narração, memória e História se entrecruzam de tal maneira, que as fronteiras entre ficção e realidade se tornam muito tênues.
Primeiro romance da trilogia As areias do imperador, “Mulheres de Cinza” (2015), de Mia Couto, é uma narrativa contada por dois narradores que se desdobram nas mais diversas formas de narrar, concentrando em si vários status. Para além disso, o discurso desses narradores é portador de um imaginário construído por meio de uma memória denominada por Jacques Le Goff (2003) como “memória artificial”, que hora nos remete ao narrador da tradição oral, ora ao narrador da modernidade. Um discurso que entrecruza “a letra e a voz”[1], forjando a oralidade por meio da escrita. Esse imaginário nos remete à trajetória do narrador desde a tradição oral, tão bem contemplado nos estudos de Walter Benjamin (1994), até o narrador da modernidade e seus desdobramentos. Verificar como isso ocorre é o objetivo deste estudo.[1] Título de uma obra de Paul Zumthor.
Resumo Torto arado, de Itamar Vieira Junior, é um romance que resgata vários episódios importantes que nortearam uma vertente da literatura brasileira, o regionalismo, com todas as suas nuances sobre o coronelismo no Brasil, mais especificamente no Nordeste. Retrata a continuação do trabalho escravo após a abolição, a subserviência dos mais velhos com referência aos desmandos dos senhores e a revolta das novas gerações. Demonstra as condições dos negros que, apesar de serem beneficiados com a isenção dos castigos corporais, não conseguiram modificar sua condição, continuaram trabalhando sem direito a nada. No entanto, o jarê, religiosidade típica da Chapada Diamantina, construída com base na mistura de credos africanos e indígenas permeados pelo cristianismo, é o fio condutor. “Santa Rita Pescadeira” é a divindade esquecida que sobressai na narrativa, conduzindo a vida das personagens, e no final ainda toma a palavra e termina de contar a história. Romance que na atualidade se volta para situações que parecem pertencer ao passado, mas ainda são vigentes nos rincões do país. Analisar essa narrativa tendo como força motriz a religiosidade é o objetivo deste trabalho. Para isso, os estudos de Ronaldo de Salles Senna (2011), Gabriel Banaggia (2013), Reginaldo Prandi, Vallado e Souza (2011), Roger Bastide (1989), Joana Elbein dos Santos (1986), Beatriz Góis Dantas (1988), Achille Mbembe (2014), Vilaça e Albuquerque (1978), entre outros, serão imprescindíveis.
