O interesse no cultivo da teca para a produção de toras pode ser demonstrado pelo aumento da área plantada. Entretanto, estudos sobre o desenvolvimento da teca ainda são escassos, principalmente no Estado de Mato Grosso, em que se demonstra alta perspectiva de retorno financeiro. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o desenvolvimento quantitativo e qualitativo da teca, até dez anos de idade, em Nossa Senhora do Livramento, Mato Grosso. De 73 parcelas permanentes, foram obtidos os valores de densidade, diâmetro a 1,3 m do solo, alturas total e dominante, área basal, volume total, os incrementos corrente anual e médio anual, e o ajuste de modelos de regressão. Também foram avaliadas as frequências quanto a forma ou qualidade do fuste, além do estado fitossanitário. O plantio de teca apresenta desenvolvimento quantitativo de semelhante a superior aos de Ásia, África e Américas Central e do Sul, sendo que a execução dos desbastes e desramas promovem a melhoria da qualidade.

O efeito da intensidade do primeiro desbaste seletivo, após um ano, foi avaliado em dois povoamentos de teca sob espaçamento 3,0 x 3,0 m, e em duas diferentes idades. No povoamento com quatro anos de idade, o desbaste foi de 20%, 30% e 40%, em número de indivíduos, e no de cinco anos, de 30%, 40% e 50%, e as respectivas testemunhas (0%). Cada tratamento foi aplicado ao acaso, com oito repetições, contendo cada parcela 35 árvores, além da bordadura. Um ano após o desbaste aplicado no povoamento com quatro anos, as variáveis DAP, altura total (H) e as médias por árvore de área transversal ( ) e de volume ( ) não apresentaram diferenças significativas entre os tratamentos; o incremento corrente anual (ICA V ) não foi afetado pelas intensidades. No povoamento desbastado aos cinco anos, o ICA V e H foram semelhantes em todos tratamentos. As intensidade de desbaste testadas não afetaram o crescimento em DAP, e , mas apresentaram diferenças significativas em relação à testemunha. O primeiro desbaste seletivo pode ser aplicado aos cinco anos de idade, em povoamentos de Tectona grandis com condições semelhantes, com qualquer das intensidades testadas. Selective thinning in Tectona grandis plantations with different ages ABSTRACTThe intensity of the first selective thinning was evaluated in two plantations, 3.0 x 3.0 m. In the four year old plantation, the thinning was 20%, 30% and 40% in density and in the five year old, it was 30%, 40% and 50%, and the respective controls (0%). Each treatment was applied in eight random blocks of 35 trees, beyond the border. One year after thinning at the age of four, the DBH, total height (H), and average by tree of basal area ( ) and of volume ( ) presented no differences among the treatments; the current annual increment (CAI V ) was not affected by the intensities. In the plantation thinned at the age of five, the CAI V and H were similar in all treatments; the DBH, and were not affected by the tested intensities, but they were greater than the control. The first selective thinning may be applied at the age of five, in Tectona grandis plantations with similar conditions, at any tested intensity.

RESUMOObjetivou-se avaliar o estoque e a retenção hídrica da serapilheira de 15 clones de espécies e de híbridos de Eucalyptus, aos três anos de idade. Foram coletadas amostras de 1 m 2 da serapilheira acumulada por repetição. Cada amostra foi separada em frações galhos, folhas e material amorfo. As frações foram secas em estufa de ventilação forçada até peso constante e, posteriormente, foi determinada sua massa seca. A capacidade de retenção hídrica foi determinada com a técnica estabelecida em 1955 por Blow. Não houve diferenças significativas em relação ao estoque de serapilheira, contudo a média de acúmulo foi de 4,96 Mg.ha -1 , com variação entre 3,34 e 4,96 Mg.ha -1 . As frações contribuíram na seguinte ordem decrescente: folha > material amorfo > galhos. A capacidade de retenção hídrica (CRH) média foi de 249,58%, tendo havido valor significativamente menor para os clones S-0208, S-0303 e S-0412. A frações contribuíram na seguinte ordem decrescente: material amorfo > folhas > galhos. Eucalyptus Litter Capacity of Stock and Water Retention ABSTRACTThis research aimed to evaluate the stock and water retention of 15 litter clones and hybrids of the species Eucalyptus, with three years of age. Samples of 1m 2 of accumulated litter were collect by repetition. Each sample was separated into fractions consisting of twigs, leaves and amorphous material. The fractions were dried in a forced air kiln until they reached constant weight and, then the dry mass was determined. The water retention capacity was evaluate using the technique established by Blow in 1955. There were no significant differences reagrding litter stock, however, average accumulation was 4.96 Mg.ha -1 and variation between 3.34 to 4.96 Mg.ha -. Fractions contributed in the following descending order: leaf> amorphous material> twigs. Water retention capacity average (WRC) was 249.58%, the value was significantly lower to S-0208, S-0303 and S-0412 clones. The fractions contributed in decreasing order: amorphous material> leaves> twigs. Despite the significant difference between the fractions of WRC, all contribute to total water retention litter.

DIASPORAS STORED UNDER DIFFERENT CONDITIONSABSTRACT -This work had to objective to evaluate the physiological quality of Myracrodruon urundeuva diasporas conditioned in different packs and stored under two conditions. The diasporas conditioned in a can and bags of polyethylene, of paper, and of mesh polyethylene were stored in chamber cooled by air conditioner and in room environment. After six, 12, 18, 24 and 30 months of storage the diasporas were evaluated by the germination on paper and on sand and for the emergence in sand and commercial substratum in the greenhouse. Diasporas stored up to 30 months in chamber with air conditioning, independent of the container, kept the viability (54% to 73%), evaluated by the germination on paper. When germinated on sand, the viability was kept up to 18 months in all the containers, up to 24 months for the can and up to 30 months for the polyethylene bag. With either
