Twenty-eight extracts prepared from plants used in African traditional medicine and from Rhamnus glandulosa Ait. of the Portuguese flora, were screened in order to assay their antiviral activity against Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and African swine fever virus (ASFV). Twelve of these extracts revealed virucidal activity against HSV-1 whereas only six have the same activity against ASFV. Further studies showed that thirteen of the tested extracts inhibited HSV-1 infection, some of which had a significant activity against this virus such as Senna podocarpa (Guill. & Perr.) Lock, Cassia sieberiana DC., Guiera senegalensis J.F. Gmel., Piliostigma thonningii (Schum.) Milne-Redhead, Rhamnus glandulosa Ait. and Uvaria chamae P. Beauv. Four of the twenty-one tested extracts inhibited ASFV infection.

A comunicação científica valida a pesquisa científica. Na escolha do periódico o pesquisador deve considerar diversos aspectos da revista, como escopo, periodicidade, fator de impacto, tempo de aceite, entre outros aspectos. Esta pesquisa selecionou periódicos brasileiros da Área de Ensino classificados no período 2013-2016 como Qualis A1, A2 e B1 (índice H5≥20). Realizou-se a verificação de cada artigo publicado no biênio 2019/2020 para obter o tempo entre a submissão e o aceite (TSA) em dias do manuscrito. Além dessas informações, foram coletados outros dados que poderiam influenciar o TSA. Utilizou-se estatística descritiva e teste não paramétrico para análise de correlação. A amostra total foi composta de 5.284 artigos. Em 2020, a menor média de TSA observada foi 28 dias em revista Qualis A2 e maior média de TSA (477 dias) ocorreu em revista Qualis B1. Mais da metade dos periódicos eram oriundos de universidades; o menor TSA foi identificado entre periódicos sem taxas de publicação; a periodicidade mais comum foi trimestral; demostrou-se correlação positiva entre número de editores e TSA nas revistas B1. Os resultados sugerem que a diferença de TSA observada no biênio possa estar relacionada à paralização nas atividades universitárias em decorrência da pandemia da Covid-19.

The elaboration of educational products/processes as a result of the dissertation of a Post-Graduation Program (professional modality) is primordial for the improvement of Brazilian education, bringing academic knowledge closer to the needs of society. Therefore, the present research investigates how the knowledge generated by a professional Post-Graduate Program (PGP) in the Teaching Area of a public University in Pará has been disseminated, identifying which regions of Brazil and the world are interested in these educational products/processes. For this, a documentary research was conducted with the analysis of these educational products/processes produced in the quadrennium 2017/2020, made available on the PGP website and on the eduCAPES Platform. Data collected: the type of educational product/process; number of downloads, viewing ranking by country and city (further arranged in geographic regions). It was found that the analyzed production was visualized in the European, American and Asian continents; and in the countries Brazil, United States and Ukraine; in Brazil the largest number of accesses is from the Southeast region. The most viewed products were educational games. In this context, the dissemination of academic production is vital to meet the demands of society and of teachers/researchers, helping in the solution of everyday problems and professional practice. So, making the products/processes accessible by making them available not only in open access platforms but also in other social media. Present the products in other languages for greater global reach.
