BACKGROUND: One of the most pressing challenges is the need to strengthen health systems based on primary health-care principles. Innovation and system transformation are needed to ensure the proper provision and distribution of health personnel, one of the most promising of which is interprofessional collaboration. AIM: The aim of this research is to produce a disaster management interprofessional education (IPE) development model. METHODS: Design of this research is one group pre- and post-test. The study used a questionnaire to measure the collaborative abilities of students before and after the implementation of IPE using the IPE model compiled by researchers. The population were Nursing Diploma students of Polytechnic of Ministry of Health Manado 3rd year, amounting to 380 people with sample counting using the Slovin formula so as to obtain a total sample of 79 people. RESULTS: The results showed an increase in the average value of the post-test increased by 130.78 from the average value of the pre-test which was 83.04. Wilcoxon statistical test results showed p = 0.000 (<0.005), which means an increase in collaboration skills after respondents were given disaster management IPE learning through virtual learning. CONCLUSIONS: The IPE model was developed effectively in improving the collaboration skills of students in disaster management.
Background. Anxiety is a problem that often occurs in the preparation of cataract surgery patients in the hospital. In some cases the surgery is delayed due to patient anxiety. This study aims to determine the effect of education on patient anxiety in the preparation of the implementation of cataract surgery in the Eye Hospital of North Sulawesi Province. Method: This research is an experimental study using a One Group Pretest-Posttest design to compare patient anxiety before and after education. The number of samples used is 27 people obtained using purposive sampling technique. Data collection is done by filling out the questionnaire and then analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results: The data showed that the anxiety of patients before being given education was 88.9% having moderate anxiety, 88.9% and after being given the greatest education (59.2% category of mild anxiety. Statistical test results showed there were differences in anxiety between before and after provided education to patients with cataract surgery preparations, with a P-value = 0,000 (α <0.05) Conclusion: there is an influence of education on patient anxiety in the preparation of cataract surgery at the North Sulawesi Province Eye Hospital. It is expected that patients before surgery need to be given education or information clearly so that patients do not feel anxious in the operation.
Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is one of the diseases that often affects children. The data found in the Manando Minanga Malalayang Public Health Center in the last year from January to December 2017 were 364 cases. One of the factors that causes ARI in children is mother's knowledge. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship of parental knowledge with health behaviors in children with ARI. This type of research is observational analytic conducted on 36 respondents. The measuring instrument used is a questionnaire. Hypothesis testing used Chi-Square (x²) with a significance level (α) <0.05, and a significant level> 95%. The results of the study found that from 17 respondents who had less knowledge of ARI with less behavior there were 11 respondents (30.5%) and 6 respondents (2.16%) knowledge of parents with sufficient behavior. Of the 19 respondents who had good knowledge but lack of health behavior there was 1 respondent (0.36%), good parental knowledge but enough behavior there were 7 respondents (2.52) and good parental knowledge and good behavior there were 11 respondents (30, 5). Chi-square statistical analysis obtained the value of p = value of 0,000, meaning that p = value <0.05 so that there is a relationship between parents' knowledge and health behavior in children with ARI. Suggestions for parents are expected to be willing to increase knowledge about ARI so that awareness of the importance of health for children so as not to get ARI.Keywords: ARI, Knowledge, Health BehaviorABSTRAKInfeksi Saluran Pernafasan Akut (ISPA) merupakan salah satu penyakit yang sering menyerang anak-anak.
According to Priyatmojo dan Achmadi (2010), universities need to harmonize learning methods with the development of science and technology. To achieve this harmony, one effort that can be done is the use of the method student center learning (SCL) in learning. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of student learning center methods in Nursing Department of Manado Health Polytechnic. This research is a quantitative study with a type of descriptive study. The research variable is the effectiveness of using the learning method student center learning (SCL). The population in this study were Manado Health Polytechnic Nursing Department students in D3 Class IA and IB who were exposed to the student center learning (SCL) learning method. The subject taking method uses the total sampling method. The effectiveness of using SCL methods was measured using a questionnaire which amounted to 20 statements and then the data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0. Based on the analysis of the data obtained, most of the research subjects 79 (90.8%) argued that the application of student center learning (SCL) in the Health Polytechnic Nursing Department was very effective. The results of this study indicate that the SCL teaching method is very effective in achieving learning objectives. This method not only makes students understand the material but also shapes their character. In addition to shaping the image that learning is fun and not boring, this method also builds the ability of students to actively participate in an activity. It was concluded that the student center learning learning (SCL) method was very effective applied in the Manado Health Polytechnic Department of Nursing. It is recommended that Manado Health Polytechnic institutions be able to provide training to lecturers on SCL learning methods. Keywords: effectiveness, student center learning, Nursing Department
