This study aimed to identify the values of modern nursing in the writings of Florence Nightingale entitled Notes on Nursing:What it Is, and What it Is Not, and justify them through some of the assumptions of Max Scheler's axiology. For this, we used Wilhelm Dilthey's hermeneutics as an instrument to unveil the Nightingale axiological field. From the effort undertaken in the search for the interpretation of the text, four core values of modern nursing were revealed from the researchers' consciousness, namely: solidarity; the value of truth; morality; and utility. These values form an amalgam and give nursing care sense and meaning. We concluded that these values make nursing what it is, legitimizing it as a social practice, and justifying the professional act. Thus, it is necessary for whoever undertakes this career to move themselves to the apprehension of values that form the axiological field, correcting or confirming the value of a scale itself, in order to form what it is to be a nurse. los valores fundamenTales de la enfermería moderna a la luZ de dilThey y scheler resumen: Este estudio tuvo como objetivo identificar los valores de la Enfermería Moderna en el documento de Florence Nightingale, titulado "Notas sobre Enfermería -lo que es y lo que no es", y justificarlos a través de algunos de los supuestos de la axiología de Max Scheler. Se utilizó la hermenéutica de Wilhelm Dilthey como instrumental para dar a conocer el campo axiológico de Nightingale. A partir del movimiento emprendido en la búsqueda de la interpretación del texto fue revelado a la conciencia de los investigadores cuatro valores fundamentales de la Enfermería Moderna, a saber: solidaridad, valor de la verdad, moralidad y utilidad. Estos valores forman una amalgama y dan al cuidado de enfermería sentido y significado. Se concluyó que estos valores hacen de la enfermería lo que es, legitimándola como práctica social, justificando el acto profesional. Objetivo: identificar a prevalência de lesão por pressão em uma unidade de internação de hospital privado de Minas Gerais. Metodologia: estudo descritivo, transversal, de prevalência. Foi avaliada uma amostra de 169 pacientes internados no referido hospital. Resultados: da amostra de 169 pacientes, nove desenvolveram lesão por pressão, sendo que um paciente desenvolveu três lesões, totalizando 11 lesões na casuística. A prevalência foi de 5,3%. Três lesões foram classificadas como Estágio 1, sete como Estágio 2 e uma como Estágio 3. Conclusão: a taxa de prevalência observada estava abaixo da taxa dos trabalhos referenciados por este estudo. Esse dado pode estar relacionado a treinamento de manejo e prevenção de lesão por pressão, que foi ministrado aos profissionais de enfermagem do hospital em questão, durante o segundo semestre de 2017. Assim, a educação sobre o tema prevenção de lesão por pressão deve ser estimulada nas unidades de internação.Descritores: lesão por pressão, cuidados de enfermagem, prevalência.

Objective: Determine the relapse rate of varicose ulcer and check the association between relapse and prevention measures adopted. Methods: Cohort study involving 50 patients over 18 years of age post-healing of varicose ulcer monitored over ten years. Relapse was assessed through direct inspection during the clinical assessment, and the preventive measures used were informed by the patient. Pearson's chi-square test was used with p ≤0.05. Results: Relapse of varicose ulcer corresponded to 62.2%, mostly in women, followed by elderly, illiterate and retired people. The following combination was effective to prevent relapses: use of compressive stockings, rest and application of moisturizer. Conclusion: The relapse rate of varicose ulcer was high and the main combination of preventive measures applied was the use of compressive stockings, rest and application of moisturizer. ResumoObjetivo: Determinar a taxa de recidiva de úlcera varicosa, e verificar a associação entre recidiva e medidas de prevenção adotadas. Métodos: Estudo de coorte com 50 pacientes maiores de 18 anos com úlcera varicosa pós-cicatrização acompanhados durante 10 anos. A recidiva foi avaliada por meio de inspeção direta durante a avaliação clínica, e as medidas de prevenção usadas foram informadas pelo paciente. Utilizou-se o teste qui quadrado de Pearson, sendo significante p-value ≤0,05. Resultados: A recidiva de úlcera varicosa foi de 62,2%, a maioria em mulheres, seguida por idosos, analfabetos e aposentados. Mostrou-se medida eficaz na prevenção de recidivas o seguinte conjunto: uso da meia de compressão, repouso e aplicar creme hidratante. Conclusão: A taxa de recidiva de úlcera varicosa foi elevada e as principais medidas de prevenção aplicadas em conjunto foram usar meia de compressão, repousar e aplicar creme hidratante.

This article is based on the value theory. Nursing possesses a set of values that are used to develop a scale that directs and justifies professional action. Objective: To understand, the act of educating of the nurse-professor, the truth value and discuss it in light of Max Scheler's assumptions. The methodology is qualitative, focusing on phenomenological approach. Study participants were seven nurses-teachers from three institutions of higher nursing education, located in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The study was conducted from May to June 2008. Data were collected through interviews and analyzed comprehensively. Result: Truth emerged in the speech of the nurse-professor in the act of educating. Final Thoughts: It was through the act of educating that nurses presented the truth value to the student, ratifying it as the establishment of nursing assistance praxis. Descriptors

Objetivo: avaliar a cultura de segurança do paciente da equipe multidisciplinar em um hospital filantrópico brasileiro. Método: trata-se de estudo quantitativo, transversal, realizado com 209 profissionais, em 12 setores do hospital. Para a coleta de dados, utilizou-se o Hospital Survey On Patient Safety Culture, desenvolvido pela Agency for Health Research and Quality, traduzido e validado para a língua portuguesa. A confiabilidade do instrumento foi verificada pelo coeficiente Alfa de Cronbach. A análise de dados se deu por estatística descritiva. Resultados: as dimensões com maiores percentuais de respostas positivas foram: expectativas e ações de promoção da segurança do paciente pelo supervisor/chefe; aprendizado organizacional e melhoria contínua; trabalho em equipe no âmbito das unidades. Por outro lado, as dimensões com menores percentuais de respostas positivas foram: respostas não punitivas aos erros; profissionais e percepção geral de segurança do paciente. Conclusão: esses achados revelaram que todas as dimensões da cultura de segurança do paciente devem ser trabalhadas com os profissionais da equipe de saúde, uma vez que nenhuma das dimensões superou 75% de respostas positivas. ABSTR ACT Objective: to evaluate patient safety culture on the part of the multidisciplinary team in a Brazilian philanthropic hospital. Method: this is a quantitative cross-sectional study carried out with 209 professionals in 12 hospital sectors. For the data collection, the Hospital Survey On Patient Safety Culture, developed by the Agency for Health Research and Quality, was used, translated and validated for the Portuguese language. The reliability of the instrument was verified by the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient. Data analysis was accomplished by descriptive statistics. Results: the dimensions with the highest percentages of positive responses were: expectations and actions to promote patient safety by the supervisor/chief; organizational learning and continuous improvement; team work within the units. On the other hand, the dimensions with lower percentages of positive responses were: non-punitive responses to errors; professional and general perception on patient safety. Conclusion: these findings revealed that all dimensions of the patient safety culture should be worked out with the healthcare professionals, since that none of the dimensions exceeded 75% of positive responses.

Objective: to clinically validate the nursing diagnosis of Dysfunctional Ventilatory Weaning Response in adult patients admitted to Intensive Care Units. Method: a concurrent cohort performed with 93 patients admitted to Intensive Care Units. The incidence and incidence density of the diagnosis were estimated, its related factors were identified based on bivariate analysis and clinical indicators for determining its occurrence, according to the global and temporal presentation. Results: the overall incidence of the diagnosis was 44.09% and the incidence density was 14.49 occurrences for every 100 extubations/day. The factors related to the diagnosis were the following: age, clinical severity, fluid balance, oliguria, hemodialysis, edema in upper/lower limbs, anasarca, number of antibiotics, hypothermia, hyperthermia, amount of secretion, muscle retraction, anxiety score, heart rate, use of vasopressors and non-invasive ventilation after extubation. The clinical indicators most frequently identified for determining the diagnosis were the following: tachypnea, drop of saturation and tachycardia. Temporal progression in the severity of these manifestations was found. Conclusion: the Dysfunctional Ventilatory Weaning Response is a common finding in critically ill patients. Some components of the diagnosis of the NANDA-International (2018) version could be clinically validated. It is noteworthy that there are variables not yet described in the taxonomy, demonstrating the need to review this nursing diagnosis.
