This study aims to investigate the impact of parental career behaviors on undergraduate student’s career exploration and the mediating role of career self-efficacy. In the literature it is suggested that some social and individual factors facilitate students’ career exploration. Therefore, parental career behaviors and career self-efficacy is considered as predictors of student’s career exploration attitudes within the scope of the study. In this respect, data which are collected from 405 undergraduate students having an education on tourism and hotel management field by the survey method are analyzed by using the structural equation modeling. The results of the study indicate that parental career behaviors which are addressed support; interference and lack of engagement have a significant effect on student’s career exploration behaviors such as intended-systematic exploration, environment exploration and self-exploration. In addition, it has been found that one of the dimensions of parental career behaviors addressed as a lack of engagement has a significant effect on career self-efficacy levels of students. However, research results indicate that student’s career self-efficacy has a significant effect on only the self-exploration dimension. On the other hand, career self-efficacy has a partial mediating role between lack of engagement attitudes of parents and career exploration behaviors of students.
This study aims to investigate some antecedents of organizational agility. In the literature, it is seen that studies suggest that some organizational factors provide to maintain organizational agility. Therefore, organizational structure, dynamic capabilities and customer orientation are considered as predictors of organizational agility within the scope of the study. For this purpose, the data which were collected from 176 employees in the retailing industry by the survey method were analyzed using the structural equation modeling. The results of the study indicate that two dimension of dynamic capabilities which are addressed as integration and coordinating have a positive and significant effect on organizational agility. However, organic and mechanic organizational structures have no significant effect on organizational agility. In addition, customer orientation levels have a positive and significant effect on organizational agility.
This study aims to investigate the relationship between the organizational safety climate and the safety behaviors of the employees. It is been accepted by many researchers that unsafe employee behavior at work place is one of the primary determinants of occupational accidents. More recently researchers suggest that safe/unsafe behaviors of the employees are affected by certain organizational factors. Recent studies accept organizational safety climate as one these factors that affects safe/unsafe behaviors of the employees. In this context, this study conducted in an active shipyard in Turkey, finds that there are significant relations between the four dimensions of the organizational safety climate and the safety behavior of the employees.
This study aims to investigate the effects of mentoring functions on undergraduate student's career adaptabilities and career self-efficacy levels and the mediating role of career optimism. It is suggested in the literature that some factors stimulate student's career adaptability levels. Therefore, mentoring functions, career optimism and career self-efficacy are considered as predictors of career adaptabilities within the scope of the study. Accordingly, data which are collected by the survey method from 311 undergraduate students having an education on different field such as business administration, international trade and logistics, public management and labor economics are analyzed by using the structural equation modeling. The results of the study indicate that mentoring functions, which is labeled as role modeling, have significant effects on student's career adaptability, career optimism and career self-efficacy levels. However, it has been observed that career optimism has a significant effect on career self-efficacy and career adaptabilities. On the other hand, it is seen that career optimism has a fully mediating role between the role modeling and career adaptabilities. In addition, career optimism has a fully mediating role between role modeling and career self-efficacy.
Purpose-This study aims to investigate the effects of job demands and job resources model on blue collar employees' job related strain and safety behavior levels. Methodology-For the purpose of the research, the data which were collected from 235 blue collar workers from one of the transportation company by the survey method were analyzed by using partial least squares-structural equation modeling method. While conducting analysis, Smart PLS program was used by applying bootstrapping technique (5000 resample) to determine the significance levels of the proposed hypotheses and also Anderson and Gerbing (1988) two-step approach has been used. Findings-Research results indicate that some of the dimensions of job demands labelled as work overload, role ambiguity and job insecurity have a positive and significant effect on job related strain. However, job insecurity has a negative and significant effect on employees' safety behaviors. In addition, research results show that one of the component of job resources which is addressed as organizational support has a positive and significant effect on employees' safety behaviors.
Conclusion-The study reveals that job demands and job resources are the significant determinants of the job related strain and safety behaviors. Therefore, it can be concluded that in order to remove unsafe behaviors and decreasing job related strain, organizations need to maintain favourable working conditions which considers work life balance and employees' well-being.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
