Latar belakang :Tersedak merupakan suatu kondisi adanya hambatan di jalan napas karena benda asing. Penyebab utama tersedak adalah minuman dan makanan. Sistem pernapasan atas pada bayi yang masih relatif sangat kecil, serta bayi belum bisa mengunyah dan menelan dengan baik merupakan faktor resiko terjadinya tersedak pada bayi. Tersedak adalah keadaan kegawatdaruratan yang harus ditangani dengan segera, jika tersedak berlangsung kurang lebih 4 menit, maka bisa berakibat fatal. Tujuan :Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran pengalaman ibu dalam penanganan tersedak pada bayi. Metode :Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi fenomenologi. Partisipan pada penelitian ini berjumlah 7 orang ibu yang mempunyai anak dengan tersedak pada usia bayi. Tehnik sampling yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara mendalam. Data dianalisa dengan menggunakan analisa collaizi. Hasil :Penelitian ini diperoleh 5 tema terkait pengalaman ibu dalam penanganan tersedak pada bayi yaitu penyebab tersedak, tanda dan gejala tersedak pada bayi, respon psikologis dan penanganan tersedak, waktu penanganan tersedak, serta pencarian pertolongan dan upaya pencegahan tersedak. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menambah wawasan dan pengetahuan bagi masyarakat terutama ibu dalam penanganan tersedak pada bayi, sehingga ibu dapat melakukan penanganan pertama dengan baik ketika bayi mengalami tersedak, sehingga tidak menimbulkan bahaya yang lebih serius.
