Laser welding is used in critical component production when tight tolerances like minimal distortions and residual stresses are required. Laser beam welding offers a lower heat input, a smaller heat affected zone, lower residual stresses, minimum distortions, and greater mechanical joint characteristics than conventional welding does. In order to simulate the laser welding process used on SS316L plates, the Gaussian heat source model was used. The model is developed and simulated with volumetric heat source model with APDL coding using ANSYS. The thermal profiles at the joint cross sections via welded area, interface across joints is taken for the analysis. The maximum temperature was observed at the fusion zone and associated zones. The residual stresses are analysed in the same path and found the stresses are in safe limits of base material. Predicted and experimentally measured residual stresses are close agreement with 10%.

BackgroundIncreasing soil salinization has a detrimental effect on agricultural productivity.Therefore, strategies are needed to induce salinity-tolerance in crop species for sustainable foodproduction. γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) plays a key role in regulating plant salinity stresstolerance. However, it remains largely unknown how mungbean plants (Vigna radiata L.) respondto exogenous GABA under salinity stress.MethodsThus, we evaluated the effect of exogenous GABA (1.5 mM) on the growth and physiobiochemicalresponse mechanism of mungbean plants to saline stress (0-, 50-, and 100 mM [NaCland Na2SO4, at a 1:1 molar ratio]).ResultsIncreased saline stress adversely affected mungbean plants' growth and metabolism. Forinstance, leaf-stem-root biomass (34- and 56%, 31- and 53%, and 27- and 56% under 50- and 100mM, respectively]) and chlorophyll concentrations declined. The carotenoid level increased (10%)at 50 mM and remained unaffected at 100 mM. Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), malondialdehyde(MDA), osmolytes (soluble sugars, soluble proteins, proline), total phenolic content, andenzymatic activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), ascorbate peroxidase (APX), peroxidase(POD), glutathione reductase (GTR), and polyphenol oxidation (PPO) were significantlyincreased. In leaves, salinity caused a significant increase in Na+ concentration but a decrease inK+ concentration, resulting in a low K+/Na+ concentration (51- and 71% under 50- and 100- mMstress). Additionally, nitrogen concentration and the activities of nitrate reductase (NR) andglutamine synthetase (GS) decreased significantly. The reduction in glutamate synthase (GOGAT)activity was only significant (65%) at 100 mM stress. Exogenous GABA decreased Na+, H2O2,and MDA concentrations but enhanced photosynthetic pigments, K+ and K+/Na+ ratio, Nmetabolism, osmolytes, and enzymatic antioxidant activities, thus reducing salinity-associatedstress damages, resulting in improved growth and biomass.ConclusionExogenous GABA may have improved the salinity tolerance of mungbean plants by maintaining their morpho-physiological responses and reducing the accumulation of harmfulsubstances under salinity. Future molecular studies can contribute to a better understanding of themolecular mechanisms by which GABA regulates mungbean salinity tolerance.

In this study we analyzed the flow, heat and mass transfer behavior of Casson nanofluid past an exponentially stretching surface under the impact of activation energy, Hall current, thermal radiation, heat source/sink, Brownian motion and thermophoresis. Transverse magnetic field with the assumption of small Reynolds number is implemented vertically. The governing partial nonlinear differential equations of the flow, heat and mass transfer are transformed into ordinary differential equations by using similarity transformation and solved numerically by using Matlab bvp4c package. The impact of each of the Hall current parameter, thermal radiation parameter, heat source/sink parameter, Brownian motion parameter, Prandtl number, thermophoresis parameter and magnetic parameter on velocity, concentration and temperature, is discussed through graphs. The skin friction coefficient along the x-and z-directions, the local Nusselt number and the Sherwood number are calculated numerically to look into the inside behavior of the emerging parameters. It is witnessed that the flow velocity is a diminishing function of the thermal radiation parameter and the behavior has observed in the case of Hall parameter. Moreover, mounting values of Brownian motion parameter reduce the nanoparticle concentration profile.

In this article, the flow of ternary nanofluid is analysed past a stretching sheet subjected to Thomson and Troian slip condition along with the temperature jump. The ternary nanofluid is formed by suspending three different types of nanoparticles namely $$\text{TiO}_{2}, \text{Cu}$$ TiO 2 , Cu and $$\text{Ag}$$ Ag into water which acts as a base fluid and leads to the motion of nanoparticles. The high thermal conductivity and chemical stability of silver was the main cause for its suspension as the third nanoparticle into the hybrid nanofluid $$\text{Cu-TiO}_{2}/\text{H}_{2} \text{O}$$ Cu-TiO 2 / H 2 O . Thus, forming the ternary nanofluid $$\text{Ag-Cu-TiO}_{2}/\text{H}_{2} \text{O}$$ Ag-Cu-TiO 2 / H 2 O . The sheet is assumed to be vertically stretching where the gravitational force will have its impact in the form of free convection. Furthermore, the presence of radiation and heat source/sink is assumed so that the energy equation thus formed will be similar to most of the real life applications. The assumption mentioned here leads to the mathematical model framed using partial differential equations (PDE) which are further transformed to ordinary differential equations (ODE) using suitable similarity transformations. Thus, obtained system of equations is solved by incorporating the RKF-45 numerical technique. The results indicated that the increase in the suspension of silver nanoparticles enhanced the temperature and due to density, the velocity of the flow is reduced. The slip in the velocity decreased the flow speed while the temperature of the nanofluid was observed to be increasing.

Due to the extensive demand for digital images across all fields, the security of multimedia data over insecure networks is a challenging task. The majority of the existing modern encryption schemes are merely developed that ensure the confidentiality of the image data. This manuscript presents a new image encryption scheme that ensures confidentiality, user authentications, and secure key sharing among the communicating parties. Initially, the users share a secret parameter using Diffie-Hellman over the elliptic curve and pass it through SHA-256. Afterwards, the proposed scheme uses the first 128-bits for the confidentiality of the data, while the remaining 128-bits are for authentication. In the encryption algorithm, the confusion module is achieved by affine power affine transformation. At the same time, the diffusion module is attained through highly nonlinear sequences, which are generated through the elliptic curve. Experimental testing and the latest available security tools are used to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. The simulation findings and the comparison of the proposed scheme with the existing image encryption techniques reveal that the suggested scheme offers a sufficient degree of security. Furthermore, the outcome of the simulation results divulges several advantages of the proposed scheme, including a large key space, resistance to differential attacks, high efficiency, and strong statistical performance.
