The incorporation of functionalized graphene oxide (GO) in mixed matrix membrane (MMM) is expected to greatly increase the permeability and selectivity for O 2 /N 2 separation. In the present study, GO functionalized with 3-(Trimethoxysilyl) propyl methacrylate (TMOPMA) was used as inorganic filler and incorporated in to a PVC/pAMPS based MMM to increase the separation efficiency. Membranes of different compositions were synthesized and the best morphology was achieved with 0.5 g of PVC, 1.0 g of pAMPS and 0.015 g of filler. The synthesized membrane and inorganic filler were characterized using SEM, EDS, FTIR, Raman and XRD spectroscopy. Moreover, the gas permeation studies were performed to check the separation factor of synthesized membrane for O 2 /N 2 . The maximum permeability achieved for O 2 and N 2 was 4097 and 3373 barrers, respectively at 5 bar pressure. For the selectivity, a gradual increasing trend was observed with the increase in permeability. The maximum selectivity achieved was 1.215 at 5 bar pressure. The results revealed an increasing trend in selectivity with the increase in permeability of gases across the membrane with the increase in feed gas pressure.
Abstract-In this research, the CO 2 adsorption study on glassy pure and modified Cellulose Acetate(ca) polymer is conducted to explore, either "dual mode sorption model" of glassy polymers can be supported by pure and modified ca membranes or not. These membranes were fabricated and characterised by SEM and FTIR analysis techniques. According to results, the CO 2 gas was adsorbed by both membranes and adsorption capacity reached the maximum at different pressures. The experimental results were calculated and validated by pseudo first order, pseudo second order and intra-particle diffusion models. According to correlation factor R 2 , the Pseudo second order model was fitted well with experimental data. The experimental and calculated data has confirmed the dual mode sorption model of CO 2 capture in dense pure and modified ca membranes.Index Terms-Cellulose acetate, gas adsorption, pseudo order models, CO 2 , global warming.
Background: There are multiple causes of upper gastrointestinal bleeding including portal hypertension, peptic ulcers, Mallory-Weiss tear, vascular anomalies, gastric neoplasms, erosive gastritis and erosive esophagitis. Objectives: To study the common causes of upper gastrointestinal bleeding on endoscopy in patients presenting in Tertiary Care Hospital.
Aim: To determine the importance of intermittent cardiotocographic monitoring during misoprostol-assisted induction of labour in pregnancies lasting weeks or more. Methods: This descriptive study was carried out in the Obstetrics and Gynecology department of Combined Military Hospital, Kharian Cantt for the duration from January 2022 to August 2022 among 130 primigravida patients underwent CTG before receiving transvaginal dose of misoprostol. Neonatal admissions, the mode of delivery, the Apgar score, and indications of induction were the variables examined. Results: Forty-two (70%) of the C-section patients had reassuring CTG and significantly low Apgar scores at 1 minute. Seven (8.5%) of the patients with thick meconium had non-reassuring CTG. Twelve neonates (9.2%) in total required resuscitation, 9 (75%) of whom had reassuring CTGs while 3(25%) had non-reassuring CTGs. The overall admission rate in NICU was 10%, and 38.5% of neonates that required resuscitation had non-reassuring CTG. Neonatal mortality was nil during the study time. Conclusions: Patients who had their labour induced with misoprostol had non-reassuring CTG among 50% of cases and had thick meconium stained liquor. Therefore, we can lower neonatal morbidity and mortality by early foetal impairment detection. Neonatal mortality was nil during the study time. Keywords: cardiotocography, induction, resuscitation, Apgar score and caesarean section
