Perivascular epithelioid cell tumors are a family of related mesenchymal neoplasms that include angiomyolipoma, lymphangiomyomatosis, clear cell sugar tumor of the lung and a group of rare morphologically and immunophenotypically similar lesions that show immunoreactivity for both melanocytic (HMB-45 and/or melan-A) and smooth muscle (actin and/or desmin) markers. This case is presented for its rare occurrence and characteristic morphologic and immunohistochemical features.
Histoplasmosis presenting as bilateral large adrenal masses is rare. We describe the case of a 35-year-old male with bilateral adrenal masses which turned out to be histoplasmosis on biopsy, so the masses were treated with antifungal agents. We describe the case for its rarity.
Primary extraskeletal osteosarcoma of the penis (ESO) is a very rare condition. As per our knowledge, this is the seventh reported case in the world literature. We report a case of primary ESO of the penis in a young male, which was treated with surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy. This case is presented for its rarity and the scarcity in the literature regarding its treatment and prognosis.
Primary signet ring cell adenocarcinoma (PSRCC) of the bladder is a relatively rare variant of adenocarcinoma of the bladder with poor prognosis. Also PSRCC of the bladder presenting with spontaneous urinary extravasation is very rare. We present the case of a 48-year male who presented with spontaneous urinary extravasation and was diagnosed to have PSRCC of the urinary bladder on evaluation. He was treated with radical cystectomy and adjuvant chemotherapy. This report emphasizes the need to rule out other primary sites of adenocarcinoma in the body, which may metastasize to the urinary bladder.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
