Este artigo tem por objetivo compreender como as faxineiras terceirizadas de uma universidade federal constroem sua identidade profissional, num contexto de diferenciações e discriminação. Esses indivíduos convivem com a “invisibilidade social” e a vulneralidade que podem marcar a construção de sua identidade profissional. Adotou-se uma metodologia interpretativista com observação participante de base etnográfica e entrevistas semiestruturadas, analisadas pela Análise do Discurso de corrente francesa. As entrevistadas constroem suas identidades profissionais marcadas pelo anseio de se fazer parte do quadro de funcionários efetivos, pela instabilidade de seu trabalho, reproduzindo as rotinas dos pais, vivenciando os preconceitos e a invisibilidade pública no trabalho e na família.
