Education around the world has been negatively affected by the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Many institutions had to transition to distance learning in compliance with the enforced safety measures. Distance learning might work well for settings with stable internet connections, professional technical teams, and basic implementation of technology in education. In contrast, distance learning faces serious challenges in less fortunate settings with inferior infrastructure. This report aims to shed light on the immediate action steps taken at a leading pharmacy school in Iraq to accommodate for the enforced changes in pharmacy education. The University of Baghdad College of Pharmacy went from less than minimal technology implementation to full distance learning in a remarkable time frame. Pharmacy students were able to finish academic year requirements and move on with the program. Final year students will graduate on time as competent pharmacists.
In this paper, the quality of the still image which is captured with difference sources of lighting (light of sun, light of tungsten) under different conditions was studying, thereby improving the resulting image of the imaging system using Retinex technique. Results were analyzed and estimated the quality improvement of capturing by using criterion of contrast depending of the point edge and by various statistical criteria based on the expense of mean, absolute of center moment and global contrast.
The impact of COVID-19 pandemic on education models was mainly through the expansion of technology use in the different educational programs. Earlier impact of COVID-19 was manifested in the complete and sudden transition to distance education regardless of institution preparedness status. Gradually, many institutions are moving back to on-campus face-to-face education. However, others including all higher education institutions in Iraq are adopting the hybrid education model. This report presents part of the end of semester evaluation survey conducted at the University of Baghdad College of Pharmacy for the Spring 2021 semester. The survey aims to address points of strength and weakness associated with the hybrid education model and specifically the virtual content delivery aspect of hybrid education. The outcomes of the end of semester evaluation will shape a better experience for upcoming years and guide distance education implantation in the program.
In the present work retinex algorithm have been applied to enhance the capture image under nonhomogenous lighting, such enhancement algorithm can effectively enhance the image contrast, compared with enhanceme nt histogram equalization algorithm. The results show that the image after enhancement has the best contrast than the image before enhancement. Study results showed that lighting intensity distribution of imaging system source represents a linear relation with voltage. The diagram was approximated to a nearest straight line function. There inverse proportion between lighting intensity of imaging system source at the right side and lighting intensity of imaging system source at the left side of line cut from the width and height of test image , in the present study statistical characteristics of captured images were calculated with different lighting intensities before and after enhancement technique.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
