4‐Methyl‐ 1,2,3,5‐dithiadiazolium‐tetrachlorocobaltat‐trichlorid, (CH3CN2S2)5[CoCl4]Cl3, entsteht in Form brauner, feuchtigkeitsempfindlicher Kristalle bei der Einwirkung von Trithiazylchlorid auf eine Lösung von CoCl2 in Acetonitril. Seine Umsetzung mit Tetraphenylarsoniumchlorid in CH2Cl2 führt zur Bildung von schwerlöslichem (AsPh4)2CoCl4 und zu gelben Kristallen von (CH3CN2S2)Cl. Die IR‐Spektren der Titelverbindungen werden mitgeteilt und zugeordnet. (CH3CN2S2)5[CoCl4]Cl3 kristallisiert rhombisch in der Raumgruppe P212121 mit 4 Formeleinheiten pro Elementarzelle (a = 830, b = 1603, c = 2443 pm bei 180 K, Röntgenstrukturbestimmung mit 1787 unabhängigen beobachteten Reflexen, R = 7,0%). (CH3CN2S2)Cl kristallisiert triklin in der Raumgruppe P212121 mit 4 Formeleinheiten pro Elementarzelle (a = 749, b = 819, c = 1015 pm, α = 84,9°, β = 67,4°, γ = 84,6° bei 296 K; 2653 unabhängige, beobachtete Reflexe, R = 4.0%). Beide Verbindungen haben ionischen Aufbau, sie enthalten neben Chloridionen und dem Anion CoCl42−, dessen Tetraeder verzerrt ist, planare 4‐Methyl‐1,2,3,5‐dithiadiazoliumkationen, die recht gut C2v‐Symmetrie erfüllen. In der Struktur von (CH3CN2S2)5[CoCl4]Cl3 liegen fünf symmetrieunabhängige Kationen vor, im (CH3CN2S2)Cl sind es zwei symmetrieunabhängige Kationen, die sich alle nur geringfügig voneinander unterscheiden. Im Gegensatz zu den N‐Atomen haben die Schwefelatome aller Kationen Kontakt zu drei bis fünf Chloratomen, wobei es in der Regel jeweils ein Chloridion gibt, das coplanar zum Kation liegt und zu beiden Schwefelatomen auffällig kurze Abstände aufweist (288 bis 309 pm); die positive Ladung der Kationen muß danach auf die Schwefelatome konzentriert sein.
