Landslides are among the major environmental hazards with large-scale socio-economic and environmental impacts that jeopardize socio-economic wellbeing in mountainous regions. Landslides are due to the interaction of several complex factors such as local or regional geology, geomorphology, topography, and seismic motions. The goal of this study is to review published articles on causes and effects of landslides in Central Asia throughout 2000–2020. In line with this goal, we have collected (using Scopus database), reviewed, and analyzed 79 papers published during 2000–2020. Our results revealed an increasing number of landslide studies in Central Asia during the period under investigation, with authors from Belgium dominating in the published outcomes (28% of total), followed by authors from Central-Asian countries. After then, the paper analyses the mostly applied models and frequently identified driving conditions and triggers of landsliding, such as aspect, altitude, soil types, precipitation, earthquakes and human interventions. Geographic information system (GIS) and remote sensing (RS) had not commonly been used in the papers between 2000 and 2010, and they have progressively been applied in landslide studies in Central Asia in the last decade. According to our analysis, geotechnical, geophysical and statistical methods were preferably used for the landslide studies in Central Asia.
In this current research, the combination of gas transportation system in line with analytical process was applied to conduct an assessment on the risk management of gas transferring pipe lines. By this process, classification and qualification of the numerous types of transportation risks would be accessible. Index and transportation index indicate risk probability and risk severity, respectively. In this regard, total risk is calculated based on the multiplication of all risk probability using geographical information systems (GIS) classified risks that have been throughout the pipeline route using attributive information. This information also gave database alternative monitoring of gas transportation.
The gas transportation of Central Asian countries has been traditionally main part of their economic sector, because of geographical location and natural resources. Geographical and geopolitical Central Asia has significant commercial and political consequences across the region, and there gas production and export potential of the key Central Asia plays key role of gas transportation sector. Central Asian located in the centre of Eurasian continent and its transportation gas sector has very less implications in the global marketplace. Nowadays, geo-strategic role of this region is very low on global energy market. Central Asia is an important region of the Eurasian continent, touching Asia in the East and Europe in the West. The region is rich in oil, gas, gold, uranium ore and other underground minerals, and occupies an important geopolitical and strategic position, in which historically interests converged and intertwined diverse forces. This region surrounded by the giant powers Russia and China is still and strongly influenced by the unstable situation in the Middle East, Afghanistan, Pakistan and other adjacent regions. In addition, in the context of the expected increase in demand for energy resources in China, India and other Asian countries, reliable supplies of oil and natural gas from the Central Asian region contribute to the stabilization of the international energy market, in connection with which the importance of this region in terms of providing energy security.
Technological (production, operational and repair) risks come to the fore, minimizing which requires optimization of the work of structural units responsible for a reasonable assessment of the technical condition, maintenance and repair of facilities, timely renewal of production facilities with minimization of wear and tear of equipment, which is a risk factor in the failure of the gas transmission system. In addition, based on the noted features of gas transportation enterprises, in the risk management block, logistics risks, safety risks, environmental, social and (in a certain aspect) financial risks should play a significant role. Objectively, in order to establish an acceptable range of risks, it is necessary to collect statistical data on the occurrence of risk factors for the foreseeable period in order to leave for constant monitoring those risk factors that appear regularly in the gas transmission system. The construction and operation of gas pipelines play an important role in the reasonable and technical transportation of gaseous substances. Noteworthy, algorithm for calculating the proposed medium pressure gas pipeline was developed, accordingly, in this research, the gas flow area was determined. The results showed that based on the calculations of underground average pressure of polyethylene pipes, the average gas pressure was 5,733 Pa, withstands pressure was up to 8009.7 Pa, withstands stress on the pipe wall was up to 0.024 MPa, and emission loss was 3964.4 m3 when there was an accident.
Operation of new and existing pipeline systems is carried out in accordance with the relevant instructions, with technical inspections, diagnostics and control carried out, if necessary. In accordance with the pipeline safety concept being developed, the possibility of operational diagnostics of the occurrence and development of emergency situations should be provided. Analysis of data for the last years of gas pipeline operation indicates the occurrence of various environmental emergency situations. Therefore, the task of this study is to classify the factors of accidents and damage to gas pipelines with the determination of the main share of the most significant. The proportion of emergencies due to mechanical damage to pipes by machines and mechanisms during excavation has maximum values. This indicates that during this period of time, many violations of technological regulations were registered. With regard to emergencies due to corrosion damage, there is some stability. As can be evidenced in this research paper, mainly accidents, repairs and leaks occur in summer - winter periods.
