Pomegranate peel is food waste unfit to eat parts obtained during the production of pomegranate juice. The aim of this work is to study the effect of four different solvents (ethanol, isopropanol, hot and cold water) on phytochemicals screening, total phenolics content, total flavonoid content and antioxidants activity in pomegranate peels, as well as identification of phenolic compounds in extracts by HPLC. Phenolics, flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, steroids and terpenoids were detected in all extracts. The highest total phenolics and total flavonoids were observed in ethanol extract of pomegranate peels (161.5 mg GAE/g and 70.65 mg Rutin/g), respectively. Furthermore, the ethanol extract of pomegranate peels showed the highest DPPH scavenging activity with the lowest IC50 value 14.6 μg/ml compared to other extracts. The high antioxidant activities may be due to the high contents of phenolics and flavonoids in pomegranate peel ethanol extract. HPLC analysis was used for the identification and quantitative determination of phenolic compounds in pomegranate peels extracts. The results revealed nine polyphenolic compounds including protocatechuic acid, p-coumaric acid, caffeic acid, ellagic acid, cinnamic acid, quinic acid, benzoic acid, syringic acid and iso-ferulic acid in pomegranate peels extracts. The obtained results confirmed that ethanol extract was the most abundant of phenolics compounds as compared to the other extracts. Finally, it can be concluded that pomegranate peel extracts can be used in various fields for being rich in natural antioxidants that have a medicinal and therapeutic impact.

Three Egyptian sheep populations, collected from three geographically isolated regions namely Siwa, El-Dakhla and El-Farafra oases of the Egyptian western desert, were investigated using six polymorphic microsatellite markers and electrophoretic protein by SDS-PAGE. Six polymorphic microsatellite markers and electrophoretic protein were used to reveal that the genetic diversity, conduct genetic structure and assignment of microsatellite. The results indicated that; one hundred and five alleles were detected; 34 are common alleles and 71 specific alleles across six loci (67.62%). Thirteen specific alleles for Siwa sheep population ranged from 1 to 5. Also, for Dakhla sheep population 21 alleles ranged from 1 to 8. While 37 ones were obtained in the case of Farafra sheep population ranging from 1 to 14. When the heterozygotsity is high we will have the highest effective number of alleles (ENA) and the expected heterozygosity (gene diversity). The highest ENA was 10.29 for BM1314 when HE was 0.94, while the lowest ENA was 2.22 for BM8125 when HE was 0.58 with El-Dakhla sheep population. The protein profile for 33 sheep population samples collected from three different regions, Siwa had 20 protein bands that MW ranged from 17 to 269KDa. At the same concentration of protein and molecular weight, the band's volume or intensity values changed from sample to other. The homogeneity of individual Siwa samples was 30%. El-Dakhla population had 23 protein bands that ranged from17 to 283KDa. The heterogeneity's El -Dakhla population was 74%. While, Elfarfra populations varied in electrophoretic protein pattern, it had 21 bands that ranged from 17 to 252 KDa. The homogeneity percentage was 24%. Finally, protein profile can be used as a marker depending on the presence or absence bands, band intensity, molecular weight and relative front values.

The tree pods and seeds of Cassia fistula (CF) and Delonix regia (DR) were collected from the Faculty of Agriculture garden at Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt, during the spring season of 2019. The physical and chemical aspects of pods and seeds were examined. The percentage of oil and fatty acid compositions were then investigated. The pod weights ranged from 61.34 g in DR to 89.29 g in CF, with pod lengths ranged from 42.26 cm (DR) to 62.64 cm (CF). In Cassia fistula, the seed weight per pod, the number of seeds per pod, and the weight of 100 seeds per pod were 12.29 g, 84, and 17.22 g, respectively; whereas in Delonix regia, they were 11.31 g, 23.5, and 34.25 g. The C. fistula had high levels of chlorophyll a and b, as well as total chlorophyll (1.016, 1.025, and 2.041 mg g -1 DW), while D. regia recorded the lowest levels (0.513, 0.228, 0.741 mg g -1 DW). The results also showed that the C. fistula leaves were also heavier than the D. regia leaves, weighing 14.96 g and 5.02 g fresh and dry weight for C. fistula and 10.06 g and 3.87 g fresh and dry weight for D. regia, respectively.
