T h e syntheses of 7-hydroxy derivatives of trifluoperazine, nor,-trifluoperazine, fluphenazine, trifluprornazine and nor,-trifluprornazine are described. These were prepared as analytical standards for the identification of these metabolites in biological materials. J. Iletrrocyclic Chnm.. 18, 1529 (1981).In order to design more effective psychotropic agents it is important to fully understand their mode of action. Essential to this understanding, is the knowledge of their metabolites whose identification depends upon the availa-bility of appropriate reference standards. To date a fair number of reference standards of this sort are available for the earliest of phenothiazine tranquillisers, chlorpromazine (4-8). The objective of this program was to synthesise
The synthesis of various 3‐substituted derivatives of 7‐fluorophenothiazin‐3‐ol and their 5‐oxides is described. The ir, uv and mass spectral data are also included.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
