Syntheses of some hydroxylated metabolites of psychotropic trifluoromethyl analogs of chlorpromazine

Abstract

T h e syntheses of 7-hydroxy derivatives of trifluoperazine, nor,-trifluoperazine, fluphenazine, trifluprornazine and nor,-trifluprornazine are described. These were prepared as analytical standards for the identification of these metabolites in biological materials. J. Iletrrocyclic Chnm.. 18, 1529 (1981).In order to design more effective psychotropic agents it is important to fully understand their mode of action. Essential to this understanding, is the knowledge of their metabolites whose identification depends upon the availa-bility of appropriate reference standards.
