Research background: The concept of sustainable development had as its starting point the global ecological crisis 1929-1933 and was later developed by encompassing all economic and social and human spheres, reaching that today, sustainable development is the new path of humanity. Sustainable development has been conceived as a solution to the ecological crisis determined by the intense industrial exploitation of resources and the continuous degradation of the environment and seeks first of all to preserve the quality of the environment. Sustainable development promotes the concept of reconciling economic and social progress without endangering the natural balance of the planet. Purpose of the article: The objective of this paper is to highlight the trends determined by the current health crisis. Methods: The main research method is the bibliographic study doubled by a secondary documentary analysis that allowed us to identify both the historical evolution of the concept and the detachment of current trends. Findings & Value added: All these concepts take on a new meaning in the current pandemic context and the trend seems to be man’s return to nature and villages, perhaps determined by home isolation as the central method imposed by most countries in the fight against Coronavirus.
In a context of increased world population and imbalanced access to resources, the concept of food waste has gained increased attention in the past years. The waste of food has a negative impact on the economy, the society and the environment. In order to reduce the quantities of wasted food, it is important to understand the factors and the situations in which food waste occurs. Several studies have shown that food waste happens mostly at the consumer level and that it is determined by a wide range of factors, such as socio-demographic characteristics and consumption patterns. The objective of this paper is to determine the impact of the national culture on the quantity of wasted fruit and vegetables. Based on secondary data, the panel regression analysis was applied for 28 European countries with the purpose of determining the influence of the cultural dimensions as described by Hofstede on the quantities of wasted fruit and vegetables. The results of the research show that the uncertainty avoidance of a culture complemented by the indulgence index influences the quantity of wasted fruit and vegetables, confirming that certain characteristics of the national culture are factors that affect the quantity of wasted food.
Advertising in our days is moving to the social media since consumers are spending more and more time on such platforms that offer very customized information for each user. Facebook, for example, is trying to bring each person the most meaningful content, which means the advertising is ultra-customized based on the user activity and preferences, but this kind of personalisation can easily have an unpleasant side effect. The advertising for touristic destinations can become very complex by using fine-tuned campaigns triggered by user consumption patterns revealed in the digital world. By adding a button like "buy now", the social media apps can easily integrate important e-commerce features, so the advertising of today is not only about presenting the content but also about instantly buying products and services. This paper highlights the way in which advertising messages emerging social media can quickly have a greatly improved success rate. Research methodology took as its starting point the findings of scientific studies published in the literature, the obtained results being interpreted from the perspective of the authors' personal considerations on the topic of the paper. The conclusions highlight the main trends related to increasing the success rate of advertisements in tourism by using social media and by choosing the most appropriate platforms, advertising methods and buying tools such as augmented and/or virtual reality that allow to experiment in advance a travel package, placing of advertising messages on the platforms with the greatest impact and including the direct purchase options inside the add, so that viewing the message can be immediately followed by the acquisition of the promoted services.
Food policies are focused on ensuring the consumption needs of the existing population in a given territory. In general, food policies are built on food continuity and production based on a pool of natural resources available at a given time. Critical food security incidents, particularly the epidemiological crises in livestock farming from a geographical area can significantly affect the population's food resources and disrupt applicable local and national food policies. Thus in some cases it is necessary to adopt food security plans and biosecurity procedures in order to isolate outbreaks, and limit the spread of the epidemic, protect the unaffected food and mitigate the negative impact of the crisis on the local sources of agro food production. The main objective of the study was the analysis of food policies in Romania in the context of the recent outbreak of African swine fever epidemic. Based on bibliographic documentation and processing of official information on the effects of the epidemic on swine farms, the authors have proposed a food sustainability statistical model with practical applicability in assessing and quantifying the effects of African swine fever crisis in Romania. The results of the study showed the possibility of statistical modelling of the national food security indicators in the event of critical incidents in the agro-food chain. The model implementation simulation highlighted potential beneficial economic effects by modifying Romania's food policies. The research results are new at national level, with a potential positive impact on scientific research in the field of economic and agro-food production. The designed statistical model may be useful to economic operators and, in particular, to national authorities in order to adjust food policies in critical food security situations, to limit the phenomena of destabilizing the consumer market and to avoid possible economic disruptions due to crisis situations in the livestock production sector.
