An OSCE is a necessary assessment tool that should be continuously applied in nursing education, regardless of the mode of the education program, the student's years of experience or his/her clinical placement. This study validates the need for OSCE in both the design of tertiary nursing degree programs and the assessment of nurses' clinical competency level.
Kelab Doktor Muda (KDM) which translates as Young Doctors Club was established by the Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia to train a group of schoolchildren as educators in assisting their peers to adopt healthy practices. This research aims to assess the effectiveness of KDM as a peer education program to increase the health knowledge of school children, and instil healthy practices among schoolchildren by identifying the difference in the level of knowledge, attitude and health practice between school with KDM (SKDM) and school without KDM (NKDM). This is a nationwide comparative cross-sectional study between SKDM and NKDM. This study was carried out between March 2016 and March 2017. Data were obtained using a guided self-administered questionnaire through survey involving 2588 (1294 SKDM; 1294 NKDM) year 5 (11 years old) schoolchildren from 87 primary schools nationwide. The results revealed a significantly higher overall knowledge score of health practices, knowledge and practice score for No Smoking component, as well as hand hygiene knowledge in SKDM compared to NKDM. Schoolchildren in SKDM also had significantly lower BMI compared to NKDM, directly related to healthy eating, active lifestyle and ideal body weight, 3 of the 6 components in this program. As a conclusion, the program was found to be not only effective in increasing the overall knowledge of health practice among schoolchildren, but also results in a meaningful impact to the health of schoolchildren. Further improvements to the modules however should be undertaken to enable more comprehensive changes on the health practices of schoolchildren.
Sustainability development practices currently is a pressing issue in many organizations and are gaining wide attention across the words. This study aims to evaluate the direct and indirect relationships among leadership style, organizational commitment, intention, and adoption of sustainable development practices among employees of distance learning higher education institutions in Malaysia. Presently, in Malaysia, the adoption of sustainable development practices among online distance learning higher education institutions is still at not very encouraging level and much improvement needs to be done to increase the level of adoption. In this study, primary data was employed and a survey questionnaire, which was adapted from previous research studies, was utilized for data gathering. The data analysis involved 392 clean data which was analyzed using structural equation modeling. Firstly, the measurement model was evaluated to determine the convergent validity by examining the construct reliability and validity. The discriminant validity was then assessed and verified using cross-loading and Hetrotrait-Monotrait (HTMT) ratios. The structural model was then evaluated and the hypothesis testing indicated that leadership style and organizational commitment have a significant positive direct relationship with intention and adoption. Further, intention significantly mediates the relationship between leadership style and
Background: There is an increment in the incidence of venous thromboembolism (VTE) among the Asian population. This study is conducted to investigate the level of knowledge and awareness of the nurses regarding VTE. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted with 170 respondents who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The respondents’ knowledge and awareness were assessed by using an individual VTE self-efficacy items with 5-point Likert scale. Results: The finding shows no significant relationship between age, education level, nurse grade, experience, attend CNE with the knowledge level. There is significant relationship between attend CNE and level of awareness. Conclusion: In this study, it was discovered that the level of knowledge and awareness among nurses in the government hospital were at good level. However, more studies should be conducted to compare among the hospitals. This will capture a clear picture regarding nurses’ knowledge and awareness regarding VTE management.
utilized primary data collected through a survey questionnaire adapted from previous research studies. The data analysis involved 392 clean data points and employed structural equation modeling. The measurement model was assessed to establish convergent validity by examining construct reliability and validity. Discriminant validity was verified through cross-loading and Hetrotrait-Monotrait (HTMT) ratios. The structural model was then evaluated, and the results confirmed significant positive direct relationships between attitude, perceived behavioral control, subjective norms, and intention. Additionally, intention was found to have a positive and significant relationship with adoption. Furthermore, the study revealed that intention significantly mediates the relationship between perceived behavioral control and adoption. These findings provide insights and suggest strategies to enhance the adoption of sustainable development practices in the context of online distance learning higher education institutions. For future studies, researchers should consider exploring the potential moderating effects of individual characteristics, such as prior knowledge, self-efficacy, and environmental awareness, on the relationship between attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, intention, and adoption.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
