Keraunea Cheek & Simão‐Bianchini gen. nov. (Convolvulaceae) from Brazil is described and illustrated as the third known neuropeltoid genus. It appears allied to the Old World genera of Neuropeltis Wall and Neuropeltopsis Ooststr. in having wind‐dispersed fruits not by enlarged sepals, but subtended by an enlarged papery bract to which the pedicel is adnate, and flowers in which the bracteoles are absent or usually very inconspicuous. Keraunea brasiliensis, the single species thus far known, is here assessed as ‘Endangered’.

Este trabalho trata do estudo taxonômico das espécies de Evolvulus L. encontradas no município de Morro do Chapéu, situado na Chapada Diamantina, no Estado da Bahia. Foram encontrados 12 taxas de Evolvulus: E. argyreus choisy, E. echioides moric., E. elegans moric., E. glomeratus Nees & Mart., E. gnaphalioides Moric., E. gypsophiloides var. confertus Choisy, E. jacobinus Moric., E. latifolius Ker Gawl., E. linarioides Meisn., E. linoides Moric., E. pohlii Meisn. e E. pterocaulon Moric. Este trabalho é a primeira citação de E. argyreus para o Brasil e propõe o restabelecimento de E. echioides e de E. gypsophiloides var. confertus. Inclui chave de identificação para as espécies, descrições e ilustrações para cada uma delas.

Continuing studies of American Ipomoea have accounted for a large percentage of the unplaced names remaining in the 1996 publication by Austin and Huáman. To accomplish the current list we have studied protologues and examined type specimens or images of type specimens or other original material. In this paper we treat the binomials proposed before 1995 and add names published since that year. We include three categories: Accepted taxa, Additions and corrections to the 1996 and 1998 lists of unplaced names, and Unplaced names. In total, we here review 336 of the taxa published in American members of Ipomoea to bring their nomenclature and taxonomy to date. We have now reduced the unplaced names by about seventy percent.

The semi-arid region of Bahia is rich in species of Convolvulaceae, particularly in the genera Evolvulus, Ipomoea, and Jacquemontia. Field work in this region and taxonomic revision of Evolvulus section Phyllostachyi revealed the occurrence of three new species: Evolvulus altissimus, the tallest species of the genus, is a subshrub up to two metres tall; Evolvulus delicatus is a flexible branched species with small, stiff, and narrow pointed leaves; Evolvulus harleyi is a herb with glabrous or nearly glabrous leaves and a globose inflorescence. These three species are described and illustrated. Their similarities with allied taxa are discussed. A região do semi-árido da Bahia é rica em espécies de Convolvulaceae, particularmente os gêneros Evolvulus, Ipomoea e Jacquemontia. Diversos trabalhos de campo nesta região para a revisão taxonômica de Evolvulus seção Phyllostachyi revelaram a ocorrência de três novas espécies: Evolvulus altissimus, a mais alta dentre todas as espécies do gênero, é um subarbusto de até dois metros de altura; Evolvulus delicatus é uma espécie de ramos flexíveis com folhas pequenas, estreitas, duras e pontiagudas; Evolvulus harleyi é uma erva com folhas glabras ou quase glabras e inflorescência globosa. Estas três espécies são descritas e ilustradas. As relações com espécies próximas são discutidas.

-(Reproductive biology and pollination of Jacquemontia nodiflora (Desr.) G. Don (Convolvulaceae) in Caatinga, in Petrolina region, Pernambuco State, Brazil). The main objective of this work was to study aspects of pollination biology, behavior and frequency of flower visitors, reproduction and phenology of Jacquemontia nodiflora in Caatinga hiperxerófila, Petrolina, PE, from March 2004 to March 2005. The phenological data showed that the phenophases of budding, flowering and fruiting occurred mainly during the rainy season, while leaf senescence occured in the dry season, indicating the influence of precipitation in the process. The flowers are grouped in cymes, are small (10mm diameter), shallow-campanulate, white, odorless and secrete small amount of nectar (<1 µl). The anthesis is diurnal, occurring around 5 h 30 min, and the lifetime of the flower is only nine hours. Throughout the flowering, the flowers are visited by bees, wasps and flies, and the bees Apis mellifera, Trigona spinipes and Frieseomelitta doederleini are the most frequent visitors (47.7, 26.0 and 12.1% of total visits, respectively). The system of reproduction of J. nodiflora is facultatively autogamous, producing fruit by self-pollination (rates > 90%) and by cross-pollination (75.6%). Jacquemontia nodiflora can be considered as an important nectar source for medium and small bees, and A. mellifera, T. spinipes and F. doederleini were considered as pollinators of this species. O principal objetivo deste trabalho foi estudar aspectos da biologia da polinização, comportamento e frequência de visitantes florais, reprodução e fenologia de Jacquemontia nodiflora em área de Caatinga hiperxerófila, em Petrolina-PE, no período de março de 2004 a março de 2005. Os dados fenológicos mostraram que a brotação, floração e frutificação concentram-se na estação chuvosa, enquanto a senescência foliar ocorre na estação seca, indicando a influência de precipitação no processo de reprodução. As flores estão reunidas em cimeiras, são pequenas (10 mm de diâmetro), curto-campanuladas, brancas, inodoras e secretam pequena quantidade de néctar (< 1 µl). A antese é diurna, ocorrendo por volta das 5 h 30 min., sendo o tempo de vida da flor apenas de nove horas. As flores são visitadas por abelhas, vespas e moscas, sendo as abelhas Apis mellifera, Trigona spinipes e Frieseomelitta doederleini os visitantes mais frequentes (47,7, 26,0 e 12,1% do total de visitas, respectivamente). -(Synopsis of the genus Jacquemontia Choisy (Convolvulaceae) in São Paulo State, Brazil: nomenclatural, taxonomic and geographical notes). This taxonomic study is part of the project "Flora Fanerogâmica do Estado de São Paulo". In São Paulo State, Jacquemontia is represented by 14 species and two varieties. These species can be distinguished mainly through their habit, type of trichomes, inflorescences and sepals. Identification key, illustrations, photographs, synonymy, typification, geographical distribution, taxonomic comments, and conservation status are presented for all the studied species. Additionally, eight lectotypes and two neotypes are proposed. Finally, we classified one species as presumably extinct, one as vulnerable, and one as near threatened in São Paulo State.
