English is an international language. This research is aimed to improve students’ vocabulary achievement in antonym of adjective to the seventh grade of SMP Negeri 5 Pematangsiantar in academic year 2018/2019. The material which will be tested is vocabulary in antonym of adjective. This study was an action research study. Statement of the problem of this research is “how is the students’ vocabulary achievement improved by using word wall strategy?” The objective in this research is to know the students’ vocabulary achievement by using word wall strategy. The samples of this research were 32 students of VII-3 class. The data were form of quantitative data. The quantitative data were collected from giving them test (matching test) to see the improvement of the students’ vocabulary achievement by score of pre-test and post-test. The result of the students’ progress during the teaching learning process by using word wall strategy was good. The students’ achievement increased from giving them pre-test and post-test. It could be seen the average of the score of pre-test and post-test, the result of pre-test was 42, 58 while post-test was 91, 61. The different of the score was significant. It means that using Word Wall strategy in teaching can improve the students’ vocabulary achievement. Finally the researcher suggests using this strategy in teaching learning process especially in teaching vocabulary.
This paper describes how to improve students’ achievement in reading descriptive text through reciprocal teaching strategy. The sample of this paper are 21 Students of VIII-1 Grade in Senior High School of PTPN IV Bah Jambi. The pre- test data were distributed before the treatment of Reciprocal Teaching Strategy and the post-test data were taken after the treatment of teaching-learning reading descriptive text by using Reciprocal Teaching Strategy. The finding shows before the treatment of Reciprocal Reading Strategy, the basic knowledge of students at grade VIII SMP Swasta PTPN IV Bah Jambi was low since the mean of pre-test data was 25,95 and after the treatment, the students’ achievement in reading descriptive text was good where the mean of post-test data was 69,76 so that the mean difference before and after the treatment was 43,81

This resaerch is focused on the effectiveness of U-Shape seating arrangement strategy for discussion in speaking class at teh first grade students of SLTP Negeri 2 Pematang Raya. The Problem of this research are: 1) How does the teacher implement U-Shape seating arrangement for discussion in speaking class of the first grade students at SLTP Negeri 2 Pematang Raya? ; 2) Is U-Shape seating arrangement effective for discussion in speaking class of the first grade students at SLTP Negeri 2 Pematang Raya? : 3) What are the students’ responses toward U-Shape seating arrangement for discussion? The objective of this research are: 1) To describe implementation of U-Shape seating arrangement for discussion in speaking class of the first grade students at SLTP Negeri 2 Pematang Raya; 2) To analyze the effectiveness of U-Shape seating arrangement for discussion in speaking class of the first grade students at SLTP Negeri 2 Pematang Raya; 3) To know the students’ responses toward U-Shape seating arrangement for discussion. From the data anaysis it can be concluded that : 1) The teacher uses her strategy to implement U-shape seating arrangement for discussion in speaking class of the first grade students at SLTP Negeri 2 Pematang Raya. U-shape seating arrangement is effective for discussion due to some proofs. First, U-shape seating arrangement helps the teacher leading the discussion well. The teacher can clearly give instruction to the students, easily monitor the students, and easily interact with the students during discussion in U-shape seating arrangement on the first day and second day observation; 2) The students show good responses toward U-shape seating arrangement for discussion. 55.56% of number of the students state that they like implementing U-shape seating arrangement for discussion, and 22.22% of number of the student’s state that they like implementing U-shape seating arrangement for discussion very much. Besides, 51.85% of the students state that they feel comfortable with U-shape seating arrangement for discussion, and 33.33% of them state that they feel much comfortable.
The research objective is to formulate the procedures applied by translators in translating Makhiou text on Simalungun wedding ceremony Indonesian language and assess the impact of translation procedure on the quality of translation in terms of accuracy, acceptability and readability. The method used in this research is oriented on the product or the work of translation. Translation unit is examined at the level of the sentence. The translation unit is set so that the study can be done in detail. It can be used as the basis to establish the conclusions of the study. This research uses the descriptivequalitative approach because it is a verbal text which is translated into written.
