This paper aims to analyse scientific studies focusing on both environmental sustainability and smart city concepts to understand the relationship between these two. In order to do so the study identifies information about researchers, models, frameworks and tools focused on the chosen themes. This research uses a qualitative methodology, through a systematic review of the literature, which examines the terms, 'smart city' and 'sustainability', aimed at sustainable development of smart cities. For this, three databases were used: Scopus, Science Direct, and Emerald Insight. This paper provides detailed information on the most recent scientific articles focusing on smart cities and sustainability issues. The paper can serve as a basis for researchers seeking background information for further investigations. The findings provide invaluable insights for scholars researching on the subject, and public managers considering applying those into practice in their cities.

Purpose Despite the large number of academic publications in human capital, there are few instruments to measure it. The purpose of this paper is to develop a holistic scale to measure human capital, considering aspects related to competence, attitudes, skills, leadership, and organizational memory. Design/methodology/approach First, a literature review of the existing measurement models was carried out. Second, based on the results the authors developed a scale and a questionnaire that were applied in a financial institution in Santa Catarina, Brazil, supported by a factor analysis and a reliability analysis. Findings As a result of this study a scale consisting of 13 variables of human capital emerged that have been grouped into three factors – leadership and motivation; qualifications; and satisfaction and creativity – which can assist in the organization’s human capital measurement. From a theoretical view, a more holistic scale is provided, which helps to overcome a unilateral focus on knowledge (intangibles). Research limitations/implications This work points out that the survey data were collected from a sample of 220 relationship managers of a specific financial institution. The results should be tested in other banks or organizations from other sectors to check their suitability and to be generalized. Practical implications From a practical point of view, it contributes a “tool” that can assist in the measurement of human capital and in the knowledge contained, dimensioning the organizational memory and human repositories. Originality/value This is the first study that provides a scale to measure organizational human capital from the Brazilian financial perspective.

Estudo clínico-qualitativo, realizado por meio de entrevistas individuais. Participaram desta pesquisa 06 enfermeiros da unidade hemato-oncológica de um hospital universitário. Os resultados foram reunidos em cinco categorias, as quais remetem à perda da autonomia profi ssional quando o enfermeiro se depara com a difi culdade de pensar o seu próprio trabalho. O trabalho com a criança com câncer parece ser símbolo de uma angústia maior em lidar com a morte. Ao mesmo tempo em que a melhora ou a esperança de cura dá motivação ao enfermeiro, a morte do paciente infantil tem o signifi cado de impotência, tristeza e desesperança. Os enfermeiros, ao longo do processo de trabalho, têm insights sobre como a sua relação com o trabalho poderia ser melhorada, porém, no momento do sofrimento, a preocupação dos enfermeiros não foi ouvida. In this context, this study analyses how the parasitic resistances of the passive components and the load power demand affect the dc/dc converter voltage gain. Taking into account the mathematical model, the boundaries of operation of the Interleaved Boost with Voltage Multiplier converter is determined through a set of equations and by means of a graphical analysis. The theoretical analysis, simulations and experimental results are used to validate the proposed approach presented in this study.

RESUMO CONTEXTO:As vivências hospitalares do enfermeiro frente ao processo de morrer têm sido relacionadas à potencialização de sofrimento, especialmente quando o pro ssional não desenvolve estratégias de enfrentamento, interferindo na assistência prestada. OBJETIVO: realizar uma metassíntese acerca das vivências hospitalares do Enfermeiro frente à morte e o processo de morrer. MÉTODO: metassíntese realizada por meio da busca na Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, utilizando os descritores Enfermagem, Atitude frente à morte e Enfermagem de cuidados paliativos na terminalidade da vida. Foram encontrados 170 artigos e selecionados 23 artigos. RESULTADOS: a maioria dos estressores é advinda da atuação do Enfermeiro junto aos familiares de pacientes. Os fatores facilitadores são subjetivos, relacionados à religiosidade, resistência pro ssional e comunicação efetiva. Os fatores di cultantes encontrados traziam a tristeza, fracasso, angústia, impotência, culpa, dor ou medo como componentes a serem trabalhados. CONCLUSÃO: Os fatores facilitadores foram observados como fontes de motivação e suporte para a construção de um processo de trabalho menos desgastante e mais produtivo. OBJECTIVE:To conduct a meta-synthesis about the hospital experiences of nurse face of death and the dying process. METHOD: meta-synthesis performed through searching the Virtual Health Library, using the descriptors Nursing, Attitude to Death and Hospices and Palliative Care Nursing, written in Portuguese. One hundred and seventy papers were found and twenty-three papers were selected. RESULTS: Most distressful factors arose from the nurse's work with the families of dying patients. Factors that facilitate the process are subjective, related to religiousness, professional resistance and e ective communication. Sadness, failure, anxiety, helplessness, guilt, pain and fear are components to be worked. There has been a paradigm shift regarding the prognosis of Human Immunodeficiency Virus infection, changing it from death to a chronic condition, but the infection still implies a review of the life of women who are living with this virus. The objective of this article is to present the psychological phases which pregnant women go through after knowing about their infection. A clinical-qualitative study was carried out, applying individual interviews, with an intentional sample, using the theoretical saturation criterion. Three evolutionary psychological phases emerged from the analysis: emotional confusion; existential doubt; functional ambiguity. The news of the presence of the virus brings intense emotions triggering defense mechanisms, especially, against the strong fear of vertical transmission. It is, thus, fundamental for health teams to broaden the understanding of this experience so significant for pregnant women and their families. Resumo Fases psicológicas de gestantes com HIV: estudo qualitativo em hospitalHouve mudança de paradigma quanto ao prognóstico da infecção pelo vírus da imunodeficiência humana, passando da morte para problema crônico, mas ainda hoje a infecção implica revisão de vida da mulher que convive com a doença. O objetivo deste artigo foi apresentar as fases psicológicas pelas quais passam as gestantes após descobrirem a contaminação. Foi realizado estudo clínico-qualitativo a partir de entrevistas individuais, e a amostra foi intencional e fechada pelo critério de saturação teórica. Após análise qualitativa de conteúdo, foram estabelecidas três fases psicológicas evolutivas: confusão emocional, dúvida existencial e ambiguidade funcional. A notícia do teste positivo desencadeia emoções intensas e mecanismos de defesa, sobretudo devido ao medo de transmissão vertical. Enfermagem é uma profissão que cuida do ser humano com base em uma visão holística, sendo as terapias complementares e integrativas um meio de alcançar essa assistência. Essas terapias são regulamentadas pelo Ministério da Saúde, Portaria nº 971/2006 que aprova a Política Nacional de Práticas Integrativas e Complementares (PNPIC) no Sistema Único de Saúde. Este estudo objetivou identificar aspectos relevantes do conhecimento e utilização das terapias integrativas pelos docentes da graduação em enfermagem de uma instituição pública. Estudo de natureza quantitativa analítica descritiva do tipo corte transversal. População de estudo composta de 40 docentes do curso de graduação em enfermagem. Verificamos que 7,5% nunca ouviram falar sobre terapias complementares, 58,8% relataram que o meio de informação mais comum foi pela utilização pessoal e em familiares, homeopatia a mais conhecida, utilizada e indicada pelos docentes de enfermagem, 55% dos docentes estimulam o uso destas terapias entre os alunos, para 87,5% dos participantes da pesquisa estas terapias são regulamentadas pelo Ministério da Saúde, entretanto, nenhum citou a portaria nº 971/2006. Devemos perceber o homem em seu contexto “biopsicossociocultoespiritoenergético" para que, dessa forma, se alcance a integralidade na assistência, sendo as terapias complementares uma ferramenta ao dispor dos profissionais de saúde.
