The present study aimed to analyze the association between of the dimensions of emotional intelligence (attention, clarity, and repair) and different levels of perceived happiness (low, medium, and high) in adolescents. The sample consists of 646 students in the first, second, third, and fourth years of Secondary Education, 47.5% females and 52.5% males, between 12 and 17 years of age. The instruments used were the Spanish version of the Trait Meta Mood Scale-24 Questionnaire to measure perceived emotional intelligence and the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire. Multinomial logistic regression analysis and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis were performed. The results suggest that as the capacity of understanding and regulation of emotional intelligence increases, happiness also increases. Adolescence is seen as an ideal time in life to encourage the development of emotional capacities that contribute to the greater happiness of individuals. In this way, the present study stresses the need to carry out practices leading to improvements in the adolescents’ emotional intelligence and therefore increase their happiness and emotional well-being.

The present study focuses on analyzing the relationship between the parental acceptance–rejection perceived by adolescents and emotional instability from the early stages of adolescence. Special attention will be paid to potential differences between mothers and fathers. A total of 1181 students, aged 11–17, took part in the study. We used the factor of emotional instability in the Big Five Questionnaire (BFQ-NA) and an affect scale (EA-H) to measure parental acceptance–rejection. The analyses performed show a clear association between emotional instability with maternal/paternal criticism and rejection. Specifically, maternal criticism and rejection in early adolescence and paternal criticism and rejection in middle adolescence were associated with emotional instability, confirming the association between children’s and adolescents’ emotional adjustment and family dynamics. This study makes interesting contributions to understanding paternal and maternal rejection during the different stages of adolescence. These differences should be incorporated into the research on parental influence and its role in the development of personality among adolescents.

This study traces the development of a grounded theory of assessment in e-learning environments, a field in need of research to establish the parameters of an assessment that is both reliable and worthy of higher learning accreditation. Using grounded theory as a research method, we studied an e-assessment model that does not require physical presence and that combines asynchronous and synchronous (i.e., with videoconferencing) resources. Through a triangulation of questionnaires, interviews, and focus groups, we gathered data from e-learning experts and the instructors and students of a pedagogically innovative online course, ensuring the credibility, transference, consistence, and confirmability of the data. A grounded theory was then developed from the model studied, among whose most striking features was the need to previously design the general aspects of an assessment that is innovative, didactic, reliable, motivating, and criteria generating. Finally, we observed that videoconferencing is an effective resource for guaranteeing the credibility of educational e-assessment.

Las competencias emocionales son fundamentales en la prevención de la implicación en situaciones de ciberacoso. En el presente trabajo, se plantea como principal objetivo, estudiar el perfil de implicación en situaciones de ciberacoso en función del efecto mediador de las variables inteligencia emocional percibida, género y edad en población adulta. Para ello, en una muestra de 848 sujetos matriculados en “Cursos Abiertos Masivos en Línea” MOOC, se toman medidas a través de autoinformes que exploran los perfiles de ciberacoso y las dimensiones de Inteligencia Emocional Percibida (IEP). Se llevan a cabo análisis multivariado y de regresión binomial, que muestran que la mayoría de los participantes que presentan dificultades para comprender y regular sus estados emocionales están implicados en situaciones de ciberacoso y señalan a las habilidades de inteligencia emocional como un claro factor de protección del ciberacoso. Estos resultados demuestran la necesidad de prestar mayor atención al fenómeno del ciberacoso en población adulta y la relevancia de las habilidades de inteligencia emocional en la prevención del ciberacoso. Emotional competencies are fundamental in preventing involvement in cyberbullying situations. The main goal of this research is to study the involvement profile in cyberbullying situations, according to the mediating effect of variables such as perceived emotional intelligence, gender and age in the adult population. To this end, measures are taken through self-reports exploring the profiles of cyberbullying and the dimensions of Perceived Emotional Intelligence (PEI), among a sample of 848 subjects enrolled in Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). Multivariate and binomial regression analyses are carried out, showing that the majority of participants who have difficulties in understanding and regulating their emotional states are involved in situations of cyberbullying, and pointing to emotional intelligence skills as a clear protective factor against cyberbullying. These results show the need to pay greater attention to the phenomenon of cyberbullying in the adult population, as well as the relevance of emotional intelligence skills in the prevention of cyberbullying.

Este artículo pretende dar respuesta a la preocupación surgida en la Conferencia de Decanos de Educación de las Universidades españolas sobre la implantación y desarrollo del Máster que habilita para la profesión docente en la enseñanza secundaria. Hemos tratado de aportar datos que sirvan como mapa de situación acerca de la realidad de estos estudios y las diferencias en su implantación. El trabajo se ha elaborado a partir de las respuestas obtenidas a un cuestionario que cumplimentaron 35 universidades, de las 72 que imparten el Máster en España. Los resultados muestran una gran heterogeneidad, principalmente, en cuatro aspectos: la oferta de plazas y de especialidades, la estructura del plan de estudios, el perfil profesional del profesorado que imparte docencia en el mismo y la realización del Practicum y del Trabajo de Fin de Máster. Del estudio, se concluye la necesidad de que el Máster deba gestionarse académicamente por los centros universitarios responsables de la formación inicial del profesorado, así como la exigencia de una clarificación precisa, por parte de las agencias de evaluación, que homogenice los criterios de acreditación para el conjunto de universidades y comunidades autónomas. This article aims to respond to the concern raised in the Conference of Deans of Education of Spanish Universities regarding the implementation and development of the Master’s Degree in Secondary Education Teacher Training. We aim to provide data that serve as a situation map about the reality of these studies and the differences in their implementation. Data were obtained through a questionnaire completed by 35 universities, of the 72 that teach this master’s in Spain. The results show a great heterogeneity, mainly in four aspects: the offer of seats and specialties, the structure of the curriculum, the professional profile of the teaching staff and the development of school trainings and master’s theses. The results highlight the need for the master’s to be managed academically by the university faculties in charge of initial teacher training, as well as the need for precise clarifications, on the part of the evaluation agencies, with a view to homogenizing accreditation processes for all universities.

This research studies an assessment system of distance learning that combines an innovative virtual assessment tool and the use of synchronous virtual classrooms with videoconferencing, which could become a reliable and guaranteed model for the evaluation of university e-learning activities. This model has been tested in an online course for Secondary School Education Specialists for Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American graduates. The research was designed from a qualitative methodology perspective and involved teachers, students and external assessors. During the whole process great care was taken to preserve data credibility, consistency and reliability, and a system of categories and subcategories that represents online assessment has been developed. The results confirm that we have made considerable progress in achieving a viable, efficient and innovative educational model that can be implemented in Higher Distance Education. Also, videoconferencing and synchronous virtual classrooms have proved to be efficient tools for evaluating the e-assessment method in virtual learning spaces. However, we need to keep testing this model in other educational scenarios in order to guarantee its viability. En el presente trabajo de investigación se somete a estudio un sistema de evaluación de los aprendizajes en enseñanza a distancia en el que, combinando un tipo de evaluación virtual pedagógicamente innovadora y el uso de aulas virtuales síncronas, con videoconferencia, pueda acreditarse un modelo fiable y garante de evaluación de los procesos de enseñanza/aprendizaje para actividades de e-learning universitarias. El modelo se ha probado en un curso online de Especialista en Educación Secundaria dirigido a titulados universitarios españoles, portugueses y latinoamericanos. Desde una perspectiva metodológica cualitativa, se diseñó una investigación cuyos participantes han sido el profesorado y el alumnado protagonistas de la formación, así como evaluadores externos. Durante todo el proceso se han cuidado especialmente los aspectos relacionados con la credibilidad, consistencia y confirmabilidad de los datos obtenidos, extrayendo de modo inductivo un sistema de categorías y subcategorías que representan la evaluación de los aprendizajes en procesos formativos online. Los resultados confirman que se ha avanzado en la consecución de un modelo innovador de e-evaluación viable, eficaz y que garantiza su aplicación en enseñanza superior a distancia. Asimismo, el uso de videoconferencias y de las aulas virtuales síncronas para realizar entrevistas de eevaluación ha resultado ser un instrumento eficaz en espacios virtuales de aprendizaje. De cualquier modo, se evidencia la necesidad de continuar experimentando este modelo en otros escenarios educativos.
