The use of biomass as an energy source has increased as far as it aims at providing sustainable energy alternatives and considerable reduction in agro-industrial and urban solid waste. Techniques employed for different types of biomass by biorefineries intend not only to add value to a bioproduct, but also to reduce environmental impact caused by industrial and agricultural residues. The coconut fruit shell residue, largely consumed in coastal regions, rich in fiber, lignin, cellulose and hemicelluloses, may be transformed through chemical, biochemical and thermochemical processes, into several bioproducts with proper energetic yield such as activated carbon, ethanol and biodiesel. This work was done through literature review, magazines and articles in order to analyse the energetic potential use of green dwarf coconut biomass (Cocos nucifera) by biorefineries as well as alternatives for reducing tons of fruit fibrous drupe waste commonly dumped in the environment
ABSTRACTThe pig farming has been highlighted globally over the last few years. In Brazil the production of swine deserves to be recognized in growth terms owed mainly the changes in the breeding systems. With the integration model, the producers started to have greater contribution and technical orientation, as well as a pre-established sale with the integrating company. As a result, swine production developed rapidly in three southern states (Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul) that have the largest swine herds in the country. This work had as an objective the current situation of piglets production units the northwestern region of Rio Grande do Sul the main items that make up the biosecurity program, identifying critical points and listing opportunities to improve the process. The adopted methodology consisted of the application of semi structured questionnaire and visiting the properties of the integrated producers. As a result, it was observed that (27.3%) of the farms produce Weaned Pigs, and (72.7%) are units producing pigs without day care. Regarding the enclosure, where 72.6% of the farms answered the question, another item was the access to water for animal watering, where 54.5% have access via an artesian well. Most of the units studied reached the objectives and stan...
O guabijuzeiro (Myrcianthes pungens (O. Berg) d.
ABSTRACTThe high production of organic solid wastes in Brazil together with the lack of adequate collection and destination can result in environmental problems, in this scenario, alternatives of low cost and easy implantation are important, such as vermicomposting. The objective of the present study was to understand the effect of vermicomposting on the treatment of solid organic food residues and characterize the chemical composition of vermicompost and slurry from a municipal school in the city of Três Passos, RS. The vermicompost and manure were analyzed chemically after 90 days of vermicomposting. Among the chemical analyzes performed, the vermicompost process affected the pH in water and the C/N ratio of the organic residues at the end of 90 days. After stabilizing the vermicompost, the pH in water was 8.2 and the C/N ratio was 13.2, and the pH of the manure was 3.78 and 4.6 in C/N soluble. Based on the results obtained, the vermicomposting is shown as a viable environmental alternative, which combines the adequate disposal of organic solid waste and the possible agricultural use of both vermicompost and biofertilizer for crops. This study allowed the generation of integrated scientific data on environmental awareness practices with the involvement of students in the assembly and operation of a vermicomposter.
