O dossiê apresenta alguns trabalhos resultado de diálogos entre cientistas sociais do México e do Brasil. Os artigos incluídos aqui são o resultado de uma longa conversa entre cientistas sociais associada ao estudo e gestão de grandes projetos de infra-estrutura ou megaprojetos, construídos sobre rios ou corpos de água. Em 2016, os organizadores deste dossiê, Roberto Lima (UFS) e Roberto Melville (CIESAS) encontraram-se no México e organizaram um primeiro evento no CIESAS da Cidade do México, para explorar as responsabilidades sociais dos cientistas ligados de várias maneiras a estes projetos hidráulicos. No ano seguinte, lançamos uma nova chamada de trabalhos, para nos reunirmos em uma mesa redonda no Congresso Latino-Americano de Antropologia, realizado em Bogotá. E finalmente, estamos agora publicando alguns dos artigos que atenderam à chamada da Revista O Publico e O Privado em 2021.
Las ciencias sociales en América Latina han recibido numeroso impulsos para su desarrollo por parte de los países hegemónicos. Las expediciones de investigación, la formación de profesores, la difusión de libros y revistas nutren retroalimentan la relación del centro y la periferia. En nuestra región, las ciencias sociales se han desarrollado confinadas dentro de las fronteras de cada país. Esto puede confirmarse mirando los temas y títulos de tesis, artículos y libros producidos en los países de América latina. Sin embargo, vínculos duraderos a nivel horizontal se han venido construyendo mediante el intercambio de profesores y estudiantes y las actividades de los congresos, y últimamente en las páginas de las revistas electrónicas. En esta sección de Discrepancias exploraremos ¿qué papel ha de jugar el fomento de la ciencia abierta en la configuración regional de las ciencias sociales?
El grupo de trabajo para el proyecto de los Catálogos Latinoamericanos de Tesis en Antropología Social fue presentado por el doctor Roberto Melville en abril de 2018 ante la Asociación Latinoamericana de Antropología. La versión 1.0 del catálogo mexicano se dio a conocer en marzo de 2018, y dos años después, en marzo de 2020, apareció la versión 3.0, en la que se agregaron los catálogos de tesis de diez países: México, Brasil, Guatemala, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Uruguay, Chile, El Salvador, Panamá y Venezuela. En este artículo reflexionamos brevemente sobre el camino recorrido y las características de un software pensado para la sistematización de registros bibliográficos y como una biblioteca digital desde una visión de futuro en cuanto herramienta eficiente, práctica, útil, flexible y perfectible.
