The aim of this study was to determine the chemical characteristics of passion fruit seeds and their oil for possible use in human food and reduction of organic waste from fruit industrialization. Passion fruit seeds were analyzed for moisture, lipids, proteins, ash, fibers, titratable acidity, pH, soluble solids and antioxidant activity. The oil was characterized for parameters such as acid value, saponification, iodine and peroxide. The content of oil extracted demonstrates that it has good potential for industrial utilization. According to analyses, the oil has characteristics similar to conventional edible oils such as soybean, and may be a new source of human consumption. Passion fruit seeds have high nutritional value, proving to be a promising product, mainly because it contains significant amounts of proteinase. Therefore, passion fruit seeds and their oil should be used as raw material in the food, chemical and pharmaceutical industry, as they have beneficial features.
The proposal of Health Surveillance is a techno-assistance model that is still in construction in Brazil. To implement the Health Surveillance proposition, the healthcare professionals have to be prepared to capture and understand the epidemiologic and social profiles of the population. The goal of this study was to identify and classify information about social and health indicators available on the Internet to be used by healthcare professionals. One is about a literature review, performed in several databases. The results show that there is a wide range of information related of health indicators on the Internet, although all this information is a limited instrument for healthcare professionals. The level of aggregation and the focus in morbimortality make the utilization of these databases difficult within the proposal of Health Surveillance. The conclusion of this study notes that research findings based on social and health indicators must be made available in Internet.

Abstract. The authors reviewed 162 clinical cases selected from several cases and referring to paraplegic patients, who have been treated in a polyvalent rehabilitation centre during approximately 20 years. The cases studied focused on those of vertebro medullar traumatisms due to water sports, work and road accidents, since in the authors' opinion the inclusion of the latter is of particular interest to the global comparative analysis.
