<p>Abstract<br />The Application of Physiognomy for the Development of Character Design in Animation. The research is developed to answer the need of clear design diversification in the creation of animated characters nowadays, to make the character easily recognizable by its market. The designed character is characterized in such a way to represent the designed personality in accordance with its possessed traits. Physiognomy,<br />an in-depth observation study of human face physical characteristics to understand its personality, potentially being a reference in making character designs more suitable to its personality, without having to repeat its previous designs. Through literature studies and animated films comparison, this paper aims to discover opportunities in animation<br />character design through non-verbal communication tools like physiognomy. Analysis is done by matching the physiognomy data with observation to several animation film character. Results of this study is a model that can be applied in the future of character creation in the animation world.</p><p> </p><p><br /><strong>Abstrak</strong><br />Penerapan Fisiognomi untuk Pengembangan Desain Karakter pada Animasi. Penulisan ini dikembangkan untuk menjawab kebutuhan diversifikasi desain yang jelas dalam pembuatan karakter animasi saat ini, sehingga karakter tersebut lebih mudah dikenal pasar. Desain perwajahan karakter dibentuk sedemikian rupa agar bisa mewakili<br />kepribadian yang dirancang dan sesuai dengan sifat-sifat karakter yang dimilikinya. Fisiognomi, sebagai studi mendalam pengamatan karakteristik fisik wajah manusia untuk memahami kepribadian seseorang, memiliki potensi untuk menjadi referensi dalam pembuatan desain karakter yang lebih sesuai dengan kepribadiannya, tanpa harus<br />mengulangi desain terdahulu. Melalui studi literatur serta perbandingan film animasi, tulisan ini bertujuan untuk membuka peluang dalam desain karakter animasi melalui alat komunikasi non-verbal seperti fisiognomi. Analisis dilakukan dengan melihat kesesuaian data fisiognomi berdasarkan observasi pada beberapa film animasi yang<br />karakter desainnya. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah model yang dapat diaplikasikan di kemudian hari dalam penciptaan karakter di dunia animasi.<br /><br /></p>
Keroncong is a kind of Indonesian music that has a historical relationship with a kind of Portuguese music known as fado. Through animation, the author wanted to convey that preserving this culture was enough by recognize, appreciate, and listen to Indonesian identity music. In the present study, the author makes a story about the struggle of a small child of the homeless to love keroncong music again. From the results of observations and the results of literature studies, there was very minimal awareness of the people of Indonesia, especially young people, to maintain this culture, and there were no short animations that raised this topic. The application will be performed using a three-dimensional technique titled “Voorspel” or a prospel in keroncong. In making this short animation, it is expected to entertain and provide information for the readers.
Typography is one of the main components of a visual communication design work as a means to convey the message to its target audiences. In delivering the information, typography stabilizes visual and verbal aspect of the overall design. The understanding of the messages (including its related aspects, such as: product knowledge, target audience’s profile, media planning, etc) is the most important thing that will help define the combination of typeface needed. This study was conducted by observation, information gathering, and typography design study of several examples. Furthermore, the understanding of typography was linked on how to choose the right typography for visual design. Result showed that the combination should have a good balance of ‘legibility’ and ‘readability’. As a conclusion, a good typography design will deliver such perception, as well as express desired impression, in a visual communication design work.
Untuk menilai tingkat kesuburan tanah dinas pertanian masih menggunakan cara manual dengan menebak data hasil analisis tanah. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendapatkan sistem prediksi tingkat kesuburan tanah yang menerapkan metode analytical hierarchy process untuk memprediksi tingkat kesubutan tanah. Sistem prediksi tingkat kesuburan tanah ini dikembangkan dengan menggunan model waterfall yang terdiri dari empat tahapan yaitu tahap analisis, tahap desain, tahap kode dan tahap pengujian. aplikasi untuk prediksi tingkat kesuburan tanah ini menggunakan metode AHP dengan menggunakan 7 kriteria. Pembuatan sistem prediksi tingkat kesuburan tanah ini menggunakan bahasa pemrograman PHP, framework yii dna database MySQL. Pengujian sistem menggunakan uji blackbox, pengujian aspek portability dan uji validasi kelayakan sistem yang dilakukan di Dinas Pertanian. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian dapat dinyatakan bahwa sistem prediksi tingkat kesuburan tanah dapat berjalan dengan baik sesuai dengan desain rancangan. Selain itu sistem prediksi tingkat kesuburan tanah dapat digunakan sebagai aplikasi untuk prediksi tingkat kesuburan tanah dengan beberapa penambahan.
Speaking of brand image, in the science of visual communication design, particularly in a product, we will discuss branding imagery. The State of Indonesia is a brand that has brand values namely Pancasila and the unifying sentence, namely Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. Sumpah Palapa, Satu Nusa Satu Bangsa, and noble principles originating from Sumpah Palapa all strengthen these brand characteristics. Of course, by adapting the media through the Internet of Things (IoT), we can implant this tradition in the nation's next generation. The researchers worked with the coordinators of student organization sites in this study as a way of contributing and transmitting aspirations through publications on the Indonesian nation's noble values relevant to the field of student organizations. This research relies on on-site observation. As a result, one shared purpose, namely the site as a means of delivering information, has been achieved. As a result, one common purpose has been achieved, namely the site as a means of teaching Pancasila ideals to young activists of student organizations, with the goal of achieving Making Indonesia 4.0, a sense of nationalism, and building academic integrity in educational institutions.
Limited signage facilities in Syahdan Campus of Binus University, has often been the cause of the disruption of the activities of the users who are unfamiliar with the room layout in the building. Where in this case teaching and learning activities are only one of the activities conducted there, and it has to be considered that users are not only from among the faculty and students only, as regular users, but also visitors and guests as incidental users. Common problems in finding rooms that they have to go to, is usually only solved by asking someone else. Design of an effective, communicative, applicative and integrated sign system, is considered to be a solution to this problem.
<p><span>Pengetahuan, pemahaman dan apresiasi masyarakat yang semakin menurun terhadap keberadaan budaya lokal Indonesia dapat melemahkan rasa dan nilai-nilai nasionalisme. Penelitian ini memandang beberapa hal sekaligus terkait masalah tersebut, bahasa Indonesia sebagai salah satu simbol nasionalisme, motif batik Betawi sebagai salah satu bentuk artefak budaya visual yang unik, dan desain poster sebagai media komunikasi visual. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah merajut kembali rasa memiliki dan bangga terhadap budaya Indonesia melalui desain poster peribahasa Indonesia yang terispirasi dari artefak-artefak budaya visual lokal. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan tahapan proses The Design Method yang menekankan proses observasi, identifikasi masalah, pengembangan konsep visual, dan implementasi desain. Motif batik Betawi dipilih sebagai sumber inspirasi dan eksplorasi karya desain poster peribahasa Indonesia yang berkarakter budaya betawi. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah konsep dan pola rancangan poster peribahasa Indonesia yang terispirasi dari motif batik Betawi yang memiliki karakter lokal yang kuat. </span></p><p><span><br />Kata Kunci: motif batik, Betawi, desain poster, peribahasa </span></p>
This study discusses The Metaphorical Translation’s Analysis in Soundtracks Lyrics "The Disney Aladdin 2019 Movie". The purpose of this study is that to discover the types of metaphors and the strategies that are translators used in translating the metaphors. The metaphors found are classified based on Newmark theory, and the strategies used when translating metaphors from source Language to Target languages are classified using Larson theory. The data is collected by finding the metaphorical expressions in the lyrics of the soundtrack the Disney Aladdin 2019 Movie from English to Indonesian. This study uses qualitative descriptive methods. The results show that there are 5 of 6 types of metaphor found and the most used strategy is the metaphor can be kept if the receptor language permits
