Local culture-based learning is potential learning with integrates and emphasizes culture locally in the learning process. Learning through culture could be raised up of students’ appreciation for the local culture. This study potentials to improve students’ interesting, enrich vocabulary, metacognitive, and four basic language skills for younger learners “it is time to speak, it is time read, it is time to read, and the last one, time to listen. The subjects of this study were students’ primary school level, less than ten years consist of 20 boys and 14 girls, totaling is 34 students. This study used descriptive qualitative techniques in describing the improvement experienced by students. And the data used of this research were gathered by 1) observation; 2) interview; 3) documentation. The results of this study showed that 20 students felt interesting in learning English, 10 students showed progress in vocabulary, and the rest did not show any progress, and, this is influenced by the internal factors of the students. It is also recommended that puzzle local culture-based can be used as a media to motivate young learners in learning English. By doing this, the teacher could assess not only their interest to learn English but also their understanding of their local cultures.
The purpose of this community service is to improve basic computer skills based on the Microsoft Office application for students of SMK Negeri 3 Merauke. This community service method used training with material presentation techniques and questions and answers. The training participants were 34 students of class X Multimedia Department. There were 2 (two) activities carried out, namely: the preparation of a Microsoft office training manual and a questionnaire response to training participants as well as the implementation of basic computer training activities online. The instruments used are response questionnaires and activity documentation. The results of this community service activity indicate that overall each indicator of the response of basic computer training participants is in the 'good' and 'very good' categories. The average percentage of responses is 98.23 which is included in the 'very good' category.
One of the requirements to get competitive human resources internationally is mastery technology in learning. On the other hand, means that human has the ability to use information and communication technology to communicate with cognitive and technical skills. In line with the its definition, MALL is the massive solution. Mobile assisted language learning or language learning utilization based mobile phones. The merits of this study be worthy of helping learners easier understand while language learning process is occurring either guided face to face in the classroom or self-learning out of classroom. Study used classroom action research in gaining data. Seeing initial students' ability, this study designed into three cycles in gathered data. However, 30 students at forth semester of English Department were participants of this study. Study noted the using MALL potential to ameliorate students' ability in the end of cycle. In the final analysis results declares using MALL is pretty effective to encourage student's motivation, built-up selflearning language, aids to enrich vocabulary, promote speaking, grammar and listening skill were greater. Implicitly, MALL has merit as a reference for design massive curriculum and materials development.
This study aimed to investigate the use of Blended Learning method on students' motivation in learning English. The participants of this study namely the first semester of Chemistry students in Musamus University. This study is qualitative study which focused on descriptive qualitative study. The sample was chosen by using purposive sampling. In taking the data, the researcher used observation, questionnaire and interview. The observation consisted on preobservation and post-observation to see the students' motivation before and after implemented blended learning. Thus, interview was also used which consisted on 7 questions. In making the data more valid, the researchers gave questionnaire about their motivation in learning English after using blended learning. The questionnaire consisted of 15 questions. Based on the observation was done by researchers, the students were more attractive in learning English using blended learning method. The results of interview showed that most students agree and were motivated in learning English by using handbook for face to face learning and using learning video and e-material for non face to face learning (blended learning method). Furthermore, for the results of questionnaire, most students also gave positive responds for the implementation of blended learning in teaching and learning process.
