Este artigo apresenta um estudo no qual a problemática situa-se no contexto da Educação contemporânea (2015-2018) e visa responder o que seria o ensino comum nacional, seus aspectos históricos e políticos, tendo como fonte primária o documento Base Nacional Comum Curricular-BNCC, homologado pelo Ministério da Educação no período de 2017-2018. Destacamos o materialismo histórico e dialético como pressuposto teórico e metodológico, alicerçado a categorias centrais que o fundamentam. O documento apresenta um encaminhamento do sujeito para a autorregulação do aprendizado, para o ideário de cidadania, empreendedorismo, protagonismo e a um projeto de vida que expressam indicadores liberais revivificados na ideologia neoliberal. O conceito de conhecimento situa-se no desenvolvimento de competências e habilidades, em que o mundo do trabalho torna-se um eixo norteador geral para o documento e a concepção de Educação-Ensino a ser institucionalizada pela escola visa compor o modelo de exigências globais e de mundialização do capital. Desta maneira, adjacentes as constantes reestruturações do capital, a educação escolar situa-se em meio às contradições e disputas sociais em que pese termos como equidade e meritocracia. É fundamental que o movimento coletivo dos profissionais envolvidos com o processo de ensino e aprendizagem na escola, reinterpretem os documentos legais para que possam compor um movimento crítico, contudo, há a necessidade do desenvolvimento do ensino enquanto conhecimento universal na perspectiva histórica e crítica, como materialização da ação transformadora dos sujeitos enquanto práxis dentro da sociedade, considerando o arrazoado científico produzido pelas instituições de pesquisa em educação que tangenciam de forma contra-hegemônica.
