We investigate a two-tolerant polymer model on the square Husimi lattice, which aims at describing the properties of RNA-like macromolecules. We solve the model in a numerically exact way, working out the grand-canonical phase diagram, both with and without taking into account the stacking effect. Besides a nonpolymerized phase, we observe two different polymerized phases characterized by a lower or higher density of doubly visited lattice bonds. The system exhibits three qualitatively different regimes, as a function of the monomer chemical potential. Below some T1 temperature and above some T2 temperature, the transition to the nonpolymerized phase is continuous, whereas, in the (T1,T2) temperature range, the transition is first order. In the dilute-solution limit, the high temperature regime corresponds to a swollen ("coil") state, the intermediate regime to a moderately collapsed ("molten") state, with a small fraction of paired segments, and the low temperature regime to an almost fully paired ("native") state. The molten state ends in a tricritical (Theta-like) transition at high temperature and in a critical end point at low temperature. Upon increasing the stacking energy parameter, the temperature range of the molten state turns out to be progressively reduced but never completely removed.
We study the optimized version of the multiple invasion percolation model. Some topological aspects as the behavior of the acceptance profile, coordination number and vertex type abundance were investigated and compared to those of the ordinary invasion. Our results indicate that the clusters show a very high degree of connectivity, spoiling the usual nodes-links-blobs geometrical picture.
The interacting growth model (IGW) belongs to a class of growth models used to simulate polymerization processes. In this work it was investigated by means of Monte Carlo simulations and a statistical analysis of the properties of the self avoiding configurations was made. We evaluated the distributions of growths frustrated by self trapping for growths carried out under different temperatures. The IGW model generates long chains at low temperatures and its efficiency is improved when the temperature is lowered. This fact contrasts with the usual methods of generating self avoiding chain based on models of self avoinding walks (SAW). Using the distributions of the configurations generated and the fractions and successful growth we evaluated the mean lengths of growths and the distribution of contacts as a function of the temperature. The results confirm the findings of Narasimhan et al. that there is a transition Θ equivalent to that observed in SAW models and complements the analysis of the model defined on square networks. Keywords: growth models, theta-transition, self-avoiding walks.
We study the cluster, the backbone and the elastic backbone structures of the multiple invasion percolation for both the perimeter and the optimized versions. We investigate the behavior of the mass, the number of red sites (i. e., sites through which all the current passes) and loops of those structures. Their corresponding scaling exponents are also estimated. By construction, the mass of the optimized model scales exactly with the gyration radius of the cluster -we verify that this also happens to the backbone. Our simulation shows that the red sites almost disappear, indicating that the cluster has achieved a high degree of connectivity.
